I have no extra fitting - just the one with the original light but i'd like to keep that, im just interested in adding a whole new fixture or something to that effect.

I have a thread here http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=62798 and basicly long story short my question is - how easy is it to make a custom LED Light fixture thats maybe 25cm long x 5cm wide? Doesnt need to be fancy just maybe a dozen maybe 20 LEDs in a rectangular box that can be plugged into a wall? I am looking for a little extra lighting in a small tank which i find too dimly lit If anybody is good at this would i be able to order one from you? Otherwise any help i can get on making my own would be great.

Yeah i cant see the fish in it, cant see much of anything really. Just an all round dimly lit tank, especially with plants i have in it - i need to keep them VERY tidy and make sure they are all looking spick and span or there is just no light present

I have a small 25 litre tank which im keeping my fighter in. Its a small blue planet tank about 35x25x20 and the one light bulb which is built in i find is just not enough. So i plan on installing another (small) light fixture in the hood of the tank next to the one existing, only problem is its a small space so i need a bit of help. I have a picture below which shows the dimensions of the hood, and any help you guys can give would be great. At the moment im thinking i need a small LED fixture, but im not sure if its possible to get them in the size i require. Is it possible to get them made custom sized from somebody? I wont be able to put in a light at the bottom of the lid as that fits over the filter and there isnt any room but to the side or on the top is enough room to possibly fit a couple small LED fixtures. Is it possible to even get some LED fixtures like this from a hardware store? Any input you have would be awesome. Cheers EDIT: I guess there is also a possibility to unscrew the light thats in there and shift it in some direction to make more room? Im not sure how easy that would be but if someone has a better clue than i do i could use your help.

Like i said in the original post, i have a lighting unit which i had on my marine tank and im planning on using that, so dont really want to go into LED's or halides and i dont believe t8's will work in a unit made for t5 bulbs, i just need to replace the bulbs which were used for marine with some more fitting bulbs for freshwater tanks and particularly plants.

Soooooo what kind of kelvin range am i looking at here? Will the "sunlight" bulbs work for both green and red plants? I believe they are around 6500k. My tank is only 40cm deep for memory. I have room for 4 bulbs, currently in the light fixture is 1 white bulb and 2 blues, both of which im unsure of kelvin etc but they were used for a marine tank. And yes, previously i used a tube light which was made for a garage or something, got it for 20 bucks off trademe and put that over the tank and it worked OK, but i only had some indian ferns in etc and they werent the prettiest. Not sure what kind of bulbs it had, but now im using a proper light fixture for fish tanks and im not 100% sure if any old tube light will work in it ie. those bought from a hardware store such as mitre10

Basicly im setting up a 4 foot planted tank and want efficient plant growth over pretty coloured lights, so am wondering what the best kelvin range is for plant growth, and where i can get those from. I am in need of 4 foot t5's (54 watt) I have heard different stories from people, some claiming "x" bulb is the best, and others claiming "y" bulb is best, and others saying it doesn't matter which one you go for. The plants im planning on growing are just the common plants you see around pet stores etc, things like amubulia, indian fern, java ferns and a couple others, possibly some of the reddish coloured plants. Also anyone got some tips on growing the plants which are slightly red in colour? I believe they require much more light than other more common plants, do they also require a co2 system? I have bought a few before only to have them slowly die. Is there anyone who can help me on this, possibly some experts who can point me in the right direction? Im interested in making him flare up, so i can get a good look at his fins, and i have tried to put a mirror in the tank but nothing happens, what can i do to make him display his fins?

Its a small pump which fits into the filter of my 20 liter blue planet tank. For some reason the existing one has just died for no apparent reason so i am going to need to buy another one. Where could i find one of these to buy? How would i go about this. Model: AA190A Input: 220-240V - 50hz 2W

Thanks for the input guys, but like i said, im no expert. I literally have NO idea how to look after an eel at all. Can an eel even fit in my tank? What do they eat? And Ethanyo.....well rather than listing fish i would like your opinion on the BEST out of those and like i said reasons as to why i should have those fish, because i really have no idea on feeding, tank requirements, tank mates etc etc. Keep the advice coming though the more the better.

Hey all I have a 4 foot tank which is 250 litres, and im looking for some cool fish to put in it. Currently i have 2 angel fish, a school of golden barbs, a small pleco, 2 blue gouramis and lone silver shark. Anyway im quite tired of this stocking as they are all very usual fish which are often stocked in most tanks, so i would like an interesting community fish to go in with them. However im no expert in these rare and usual fish, so i would like advice. Im considering a "Leopard Ctenopoma" but i cannot seem to find much information on them. Will they be difficult to feed anything but live fish? And would that fish suit my community tank? Im also after advice for other fish which you guys recommend would be cool, interesting, and friendly enough for this tank. Thanks

I believe he is out yes..... These clown loaches are frustrating me -.- I bought 2 from hollywood 2 weeks ago and since the second day one of them has been missing.... Looked ALL over the tank, no fish, as far as i can see no corpse either. And the biggest fish in there is a black angel fish and he is no where near big enough to eat a clown loach.... Really weird because iv only ever had 1 fish die on me because of sickness (the rest die of age) and that was my fighter fish a while back. Got a bad case of ich....Wasn't a nice coming home present after a 4 day weekend :tears: Might have to go and get me some more clown loaches as i think this 1 is a bit lonely.

Well correct me if im wrong but fish cannot swim backwards? i honestly dont see how it could get out.
