1. I have always worked with, if it will squeze out of the tube it is still good. I didn't think it went off without contact with air, and when it 'goes bad' doesn't it just set, so you can't get it out of the tube any way?
2. If you have a spare chili bin you can just full that with some water, and put the fish in there, and that will help keep the water temp stable. Putting the bags in Polystyrene boxes is also good for keeping the temperature stable.

Ninja Fish

I would say it is just juvi stock, it seems to be a nice number of fish in there.
4. Would recommend one of the smaller polypterus, palmas palmas are my favourite, they are quite hard to find at the moment though. just you need to be careful that your clowns (or other fish) are not small enough to fit in the poly's mouth, as they are very predatory and will eat smaller fish if given the chance.
5. "Frank the tank", hahaha, I love the name. :bggrn:
6. Looking good there. There is a massive size difference t hough isn't there.
7. Heat would be better, I find that for medium sized spills a fan heater can dry it up real fast. if it is a massive mess you may want to consider getting a rug doctor to draw all the water out of carpet.

Welcome, good to see you have been sorted out with good information. Good luck with your tropicals that you get.
9. Also recommend greg, his tanks are of good quality.
10. Sounds and looks cool, any full tank shots?
11. A bt out of date, but this is how you post images on the forum.
12. I would imagine that your poly's gut will break down the shrimp, if you are really worried though, I would post on mfk, there are a few poly experts on there.
13. Nice fish, I didn't realise we had any of the 'hi fin' BGK in nz. Nothing like being an oddball, oddball to make it be an even more cool fish.
14. Tank is looking great. what is making Blacky's fins look ragged?
15. Welcome, good luck setting up a new tank.
16. You have a very nice boy there. Why is the decider in there? (i.e. what is on the other side.) Also just wondering how big your tank is?
17. You have to upload the photo to some image host in service then put the link to the uploaded image inside the code like this more info in this thread
18. Done it, but most questions didn't seem to relate to hobbyist, or were worded poorly for us.
19. Nice looking fish you have there, any full tanks shots?
20. I live in Beachlands, which is a bit far away from west auckland, but if you need it I can trade some out of my tank if you can't find anyone closer. You may also want to try on the "new Zealand fish keepers" Facebook page, there are a number of Aucklanders on there who could help, some of whom might be easier to get to.
21. Yea the vinegar test is a good way to see if it is likely to react in water, another way is to leave it in a bucket of water for a week, and see if the pH of the water changes over the week. Paving stone is generally ok, but I would be careful about putting sharp edges in the tank as fish can hurt themselves on it. As for cleaning stone just rinse it off with a hose, and if it comes from a location you don't trust boiling it in water, or cooking in the oven can work to sterilise it, just be caefull about using that as some stones can explode in heat.

23. Looks amazing, you breeding him?
24. temperature change might nock it back a bit, but I would imagine it be better then starting from un seeded. Good to see you are getting an appropriate tank for the goldfish.
25. Welcome it seems you are going the right direction interns of fish tanks, i.e. lots of them. If you are wanting discus you might want to check out new pupuke aquarium, they have the best range in auckland imo.
