  1. Been a while since I have had baby poly's, I had forgotten how much they like hanging in the plants at the surface, it is so cute.
  2. It very much can do, at the moment there grow out tank theme is black, black, with some more black on the side, but genetics also make a difference, and the fish I have bought with nicer colours to begin with have ended up with nicer colours in the end.
  3. What sort of pleco is it? (If you don't know post some photo's here and we can ID it) As for do they need friends a lot of pleco's are more solitary fish and are fine by themselves, others need more, but the ones that need more would need more of the same species of pleco's to feel hapy, not just more fish. best of luck.
  4. Palmas is for me, but in saying that I now have 6 delhezi...... (Hopefully one of my new ones is a male)
  5. Yea, I was only goign to get the palmas when I went there, but the markings were to good to say no. They had several more with simmilarly nice markings, is worth going in to pick the fish out specially as there were several more really nice ones there. Now I just got to hope the markings stay stable as it grows.
  6. Depends on whether you want total length (end of tail) or standard length (base of tail). Most people on trade me have there measurements in total length, personally I prefer my measurements in standard length. http://www.tt-aa.co.uk/ARTICLES/measuring fish.htm
  7. Yup, some of the delhezi they have there have really nice markings. But they did not get in nearly enough palmas's.
  8. YAY!!!!!! Finally got 2 more polypterus palmas (something) I wanted more, but that is all that was available, so excited, and they are so cute when they are small, can't wait for them to grow up. Also got myself a couple more delhezi, opps they had such nice markings.
  9. Quick question, can you provide pictures of the 'white ghost knife' and marbled polypterus so that I can id them properly, could be very interested depending on the exact species
  10. Welcome. Good luck with having a small tank.

Amazing looking fish, I wish I had a tank that I could keep them in.
  12. Any store taht stocks Fluval filters should be able to order in spare parts for you.
  13. I have found green water is usually related to amount of light getting into the tank, then the nutrients, in your new place is it no longer gettign as much sun light in it?
  14. I personally prefer them when they are short to.
  15. Welcome back. Looking forward to seeing photo's.
  16. That is a pretty looking pond, well done.
  17. Welcome back. Just read through this thread, I think I need more crypts, and need to start an emersed setup.
  18. Welcome. Looking forward to reading about your build.
  19. Fixed the image, but no idea on the ID sorry
  20. Very pretty fish, I am jealous of you.
  21. You need a permit to keep native lizards, and I believe you have to buy them from authorised breeders, and can't collect from the wild.
  22. Using natural light makes it hard to control the likes of algae in fresh water, I haven't had a salt water, but imagine it is not great. Even inside you will want to get a heater for the tank, unless the room is prominently heated to 25+. maybe it is just better to ask forgiveness then permision?
  23. Can be done, the less insulation you have the more you have to pay in heating.
