  1. This are gooing good, we need to catch up again at some stage. My things are going god, yea the upgrade is nice, and the plants are finnaly getting established, making the tank look great.
  2. Welcome back, good luck getting back into your fish keeping.
  3. Welcome to Auckland. Looks like you found yourself a nice place.
  4. Now one of those big pleco's would be nice to get. If only that could get imported. Would like to get a sun cat though, haven't seen any for sale in ages though.
  5. Yes, they are my favourite sort of fish. It is disappointing the lack of variety we get in NZ, but currently I keep chocolate talking cats, hoplo cat fish and feather fin syno. I want more, but I can't find any more in NZ that will go with my cichlids. I tried pictus a few months ago, and they got eaten with in 5 minutes of getting released, so am cautious about getting smaller fish since that.
  6. I got mine off blood worms by breaking massivore into defrosted bloodworms, then re freezing it. After feeding the mix for a few weeks I tried with straight pellets and with a bit of trying I broke it off blood worms.

Welcome. Sounds like you have a nice collection going there.
  8. In terms of colourfull big fish the best you can really get in NZ is asian arrowana, but they can be rather costly.
  9. what do you get when you measure the ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate readings?
  10. Sounds like a very cool build. looking forward to seeing progress. Not sure as I havn't done the safety factor calculations, but the glass seems a bit thin for the size of the tanks, are you making the tanks your self, or getting them made for you?
  11. Adding your location to your profile would help. :bggrn:
  12. Definitely recommend pothos, or peace lilly as plants to suck up nitrates, they are really good at it. They do need some light, but do grow in low light settings. Although in low light variagated varieties lose all there white stripes.
  13. Looks amazing, can't wait to see more (fish related) photo's of your trip.
  14. Sounds exciting. How are you planning on making heavy tanks easy to move? (wheels on the bottom of the tanks, or what?)
  15. Welcome :bggrn: :bggrn:
  16. The only way to know is to try. You could put a divider in the tank to get them used to each other before introducing them, and have a number of hiding places to reduce the chance of one of them gettign beaten to death.
  17. That crab does look very cool.
  18. Yup, and the structure allows for them to hold a rather large(ish) amount of beneficial bacteria, which is good. Only down side I can think of is there sharpish edges could hurt fish rubbing against it.
  19. Welcome, and good luck with setting upi your tank.
