Smaller tanks and clean your glass so it is spotless. Putting them in a jar isn't necessarily that good, as the curved edges will distort what the fish looks like.

I though that species was already easily available in NZ?

If you get aquarium safe silicon it is fine to use in and around the aquarium, You just need to make sure that you give it time to set properly before submerging it in water. Aquarium safe sill icons will say on the tube that it is aquarium safe.

At the moment a 900L tank.

Two at about 6cm, and one at about 4 cm, so a lot smaller. I am not going to rush into anything, but I do have several people at the moment encouraging me to sell off my cichlids, and turn my tank into a higher flow, tannin stained, lots of drift wood, pleco comm. And it is a very tempting thought.

Haha, I am in auckland. I will, but at the moment I can't see that happening any time soon. and yea that one is the biggest, slightly over 25cm TL. I have another 3 that I bought not long ago growing out, but If I can get my hands on a few other large ones I will be tempted to sell my other fish and try to.

I am so excited, I got some new large sized Royals. There was minor drama in shipping as the larger one put a hole in through it's many bags, and was not very responsive when released out of it, but hopefully it will be fine.

At the auckland pet show many many years ago (I was about 8 or 9 then), right at the end of the day when everything was closing up me and I managed to convince my parents to impulse buy me a small aqua one fish tank. I think it was the next weekend that we went animates and bought a few guppies (no one had taught me or parents about cycling, so tank was not cycled). When we got home after adding the guppies one of them died, and I was devastated by it (you can tell it must have scared me for life as I still remember it now). Since then I have only moved onwards and up wards with more and better tanks. Also thankfully I now know what cycling a tank is.

Wow, those are some awesome pleco's there, shame we can't get a lot of them in NZ.

Looks like such an amazing tank. Can't wait to see pictures and video's of it stocked. That will be the closest I will be able get to it in the sort term at least.
