  1. Link reads like an infomercial, and I see you get rewards for clicks?
  2. I'm using crushed lime stone in my 430L as my pH was dropping below 6, not too much of a problem for my fish but would rise upto around 7 on a w/c and I wanted to keep it more stable. It now sits about 6.8.
  3. probably a banded kokopu, but without a side view is very hard to tell. Nice find any way
  4. I wouldn't think it would help, but don't know. They should be actively coming into contact in the top-middle of the chamber and as they are rising in the bubbles

I didn't say imported but should have said breeder. In other parts of the world antibiotics are routinely used with in animal breeding/rearing (even if they aren't permitted)
  6. Two circles, media and bubbles rising on both (two) sides and falling in the middle. I would thnk that this would be the best way to get fluidisation in a rectangle chamber of a sump
  7. in that case I think I would buy 2 of those bubble wall stones and have one on either side of the chamber: View from above ------------------------------------------- <= Sump wall |===================| <= Bubble wall | K1 | | K1 | | K1 | | K1 |<= First weir | K1 | | K1 | |===================| <= Bubble wall ------------------------------------------- <= Sump wall

I can almost guarantee that the imported fish will be in antibiotics all their life. I have no experience in fish but in another industry I have worked in overseas where antibiotics were all but banned (but not tested for) they were routinely used by some to treat both disease and prophylactically
  9. as they are close to neutral buoyancy the dropping water may keep them tumbling in the chamber? 50 L sounds like alot...
  10. I'm a rightie but eat as a leftie, can never figure out why you would want to teach you kids to use a fork with their uncoordinated hand... although I will eat as a rightie if out at a restaurant
  11. I wonder how many staff/shops would mention it if you picked up a ~20L all in one then walked over it the fishroom and asked for a couple of comets...
  12. I have seen one in Asia like that, Indonesia I think. Heward also posted photos of one in Asia somewhere, but they were BIG tanks.
  13. Sorry to hear that your loach died. I lost three when the heater on my tank got unplugged over winter and the temp got down to around 12 c. Here is a thread of the tank I had setup for them: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=59465
  14. umm... http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/fish/fish-tanks-aquariums/auction-551278386.htm
  15. I thought that they were the other way around as Beaufortia kweichowensis are from Kuching - Sarawak?
  16. Why not call it 400 L? we are in a metric country after all...
  17. 35 if colour blind and 57 if not? Edit: answer page
  18. +1 to what Caryl said. Most streams will hold something or another, what are you after and is for a tank or just to see what's around?
  19. You know I'll be up for a read, Sara could also look at the english
  20. The colour will change when rotated - get darker or lighter
  21. That's because they are an introduced pest :rotf:
