  1. you like kuhlis obviously so why not an eel, fire eel or tyre track eel?
  2. is that vodka in the background?
  3. really nice tanks amelia. clean and tidy, healthy looking fish. that loach sure is a fattie! i love your ebjd but you already know that lol so with your big tank, the new scape, quite a major change you made! low lying rocks and wood, with large swim space in top 80% of tank, as opposed to plants taking up all the upper levels. wondering, do you prefer this new rock/wood scape over the planted scape you had before? and what made you decide to ditch plants and go for just rock and wood?
  4. i miss wanganui, my hometown. if i were you i would call around all the glass places you can find locally, tell them specifically what you need done. i think that most glaziers have probably done aquarium work before and would be able to repair a tank for a reasonable price, since you don't need any more glass. and they will likely come to you. however if they sound like they don't know what you're talking about, or don't seem to know what they're doing, don't risk it. give these guys a try http://centralglass.co.nz/
  5. !drool: that's my kinda fish... um... by the way.. where was this?
  6. i'm hanging out for volcanos, not earthquakes.
  7. last summer? i thought you had just set it up recently.
  8. depends on your job i guess. and how much you like your job.... haha
  9. do some googling if you really want to know. i can't link you to anything here as it contains naughty words.
  10. no. to be honest, i was thinking about carrots. cheers ira, you forgot the plural. there are many things wrong with me.
  11. i don't have a limited palette. i'm insulted. gosh. i just don't like venison. mmmkay?
  12. cooked it myself - impossible that it was cooked badly. it's just too rich for me. makes the house smell bad for a day or so as well. plus, deer are disgusting animals. like overgrown rats. they hiss. hissssss. when i see your screen name i just see vajayjay. cannot unsee.
  13. didn't feel anything my end. i am the only unstable thing in auckland.
  14. that's what i meant. i love all red meat except venison!
  15. used to go pig hunting with some maori mates and their dogs. no guns, just knives and dogs. was great fun. felt like a native. we got some massive boars. not interested in deer. venison is yuck. and i love red meat.
  16. good article here. apparently the producers of the show deliberately stalled and messed up the takes so he would have to stay in there longer... http://dailycaller.com/2010/07/07/jerem ... rtainment/
  17. piranha are much prettier than dollars or pacu. they look like they are covered in silver glitter. very pretty fish imo. and quite docile. here is a pic of that madman jeremy wade in a pool with a bunch of piranha that haven't been fed in a week or so. he later on drops in a bit of blood - while he's in there. and they just left him alone...
  18. yeah those metynnis look a lot like piranha, and the red hook dollars. i think it's likely that people buy pacu or metynnis and just say they have piranha to sound cool. but i'd like to believe there are some here.....
  19. put me down for a few babies if they do.. :spop:
  20. i have heard several stories of people owning piranha in nz. i'm sure they have been here at some stage. and tetras... well piranha are basically just overgrown tetras anyway... hahah
  21. yeah i asked one of the staff but she had no idea. i was wondering if the law had changed or if their licence to keep them was pulled or something. i might actually email them and ask, i did mention it on the feedback form i filled out there. the tank they were in was definitely too small for the amount they had in there anyway.
  22. no kidding david... lol. there were at least 30 of them in a large display tank went i went last year. and as karina says they were there in april! kelly tarltons has undergone a bit of renovation lately. there is a new seahorse area with pipefish, dragonfish and a few different types of horses. nice area. kelly tarltons only has two freshwater exhibits now, a pond type enclosure with long and shortfin eels, and a terrible little tank in the kids area with some rough looking boesemani, pleco, a random silver dollar and a lone electric yellow. anyway. all im wondering is why they decided to get rid of the piranha, and if they kulled them, or what?
