  1. pictures! pictures! :bounce:
  2. oh man I'm sorry for your losses :tears:
  3. thats what happened to me. I ended up with one SAE and a black line flying fox
  4. oohh nice setup Josh, good luck with the spawning
  5. They can get cranky when they have a less than ideal tank size. My one is temoporarily living in a small tank after his big one smashed and he chases his tankmates round every now and again. Never had any problems with him in a larger tank though.
  6. My advice is to stay away from high prey driven dogs (unless you want to do a sport with it) and backyardbreeders. give your new dog good long walks/runs (not a 5 minuite ball through in the backyard) and plenty of socialsation and training. no matter what dog you choose, the dog you end up with will be the result of the work you've put into it.
  7. I had a curious thought today... Is it possible to get heated shelves that heat the tanks that sit on it? kind of like the heated towel racks but set to heat the water to a certain temp.
  8. my one is peacefull, its living with cories and female fighters at the moment. He also did a wonderful job of cleaning up the algae
  9. indeed all our bettas are mutants of some type mild rosetails are fine I quite like them. but because extreme rosetails come with messy scales, unballanced finnage and extremely heavy branching, all which can be passed down to their children, most breeders get rid of them. I'm not much of a DT fan either but my betta breeding goal requires their blood  I wonder if one day we will see "full moon" bettas with 360 spread... I dont think I'd like the look of them:sick:
  10. but..but...they are considered unwanted gentetic deformities and culled without a second thought :nilly: ah well each to their own. I love shiny blue bettas
  11. Its a shame that most turned into extreme rosetails they are such lovely colours too Thats good news about your other spawn are they the red and platinum dragons? Your fighters come in so many exciting colours
  12. aw bad luck about the rosetail I love pic 4 shes got some nice masking and your half giant is also stunning, do you think he will keep the white round the edges around his fins?
  13. :happy1: yay congratulations!!
  14. Awesome :happy2: thanks guys bbs appears to be hardier than i thought
  15. phew, thats good news. I was getting nervous for a bit
  16. nice photos! I wish I could create a tank like that. I like the white background, perhaps you could paint some cardboard white and shove it between the tank and the wires for max effect.
  17. after the quake we had no power for 13 days. I had bbs and decap in the fridge at that time, would it still be ok to use?
  18. lucky finds with the dt through backs extreme rts have short caudals because it is a genetic deformity, extreme rt pks have shorter than normal tails aswell.
  19. let us know how it goes :happy1: you dont really need a filter but a sponge filter with very slow bubbles would be good if you wanted to use one
  20. Who were the parents of that spawn? x factors are the result of crossing two fish with heavy branching. NZs low genetic diversity screws us up :nilly: I think I've read somewhere that dragon is related to copper somehow and its possible to get dragon back in F2 when a dragon is crossed with a copper (dont quote me on this though  ). If its true it may help to introduce new blood into your dragon line
  21. i use cold water straight from the tap. but i try to make the fighters temp as close as possible to the original temp because they get 90% water changes.
