  1. ooh hit me up when you breed them  what colours?
  2. :nfs: Lovely coppers! do you plan on continuing this colour line?
  3. :smln: I'm keen on learning how to construct a barracks. I look forward to that post
  4. Ah, so it was...my bad, I really should pay more attention :cofn:
  5. Males bar too... I dont think 1,2,3 are males. 4 is your probably your best bet on being a male. look for the fish with the longest ventral fins, this will be the male.
  6. :thup:I'd be keen for something like that
  7. I'm feeling a bit jealous of your score! :sml2:
  8. This is true. What we get is often a surprise.
  9. Yeah, melano females are the infertile ones. they can produce eggs but they rupture during hatching so the fry die. I dont know if we have melano in nz :dunno: if we do, awesome  Does your pair have any red or blue on them? if they do then they probably arent melano. if they are melano however, then you would have to use a different female. Most breeders use a blue female...cant remember the reason for this though..something to do with iridescence Melano is recessive though so you would get multicolours in F1 and have to do some inbreeding to get your melanos back. Ill keep my fingers crossed for the 6th attempt
  10. congratulations! patience paid off  do you have pictures of the parents? :happy1:
  11. :roey: thats half the fun... after staring at this one :dead%fish for long enough, I've finally figured out how it is a dead fish.
  12. I wish we had that colour in nz. I wonder if he still looks like that because of marbles instabillity. Imagine paying $$ only to have him completely marble out to cellophane
  13. Thanks I've only just done an F2 cross from 2 pk carriers. Father ate his children but i saved 5 I'll try again in a few weeks :nilly: I'll be keenly following the progress especially that first male. Then, when the time is right I'll be trolling trademe I like that guy. Did he marble to that colour or was he born pure like that?
  14. Wow, so you started your lines basically from scratch. You've done wonders for the quality of bettas in NZ Its nice seeing carefully bred fish avaliable in NZ I'm working on a line of pks. Approximately how many generations untill you find you need to introduce new blood?
  15. beautiful strains you've got I really like the sharp caudal edges on the last one and the firsts ones overall balance. The middle guy is an overall impressive fish keep us posted on the spawning
  16. You did a very good job with them! what females do you have planned for them? What strains are you working on? Pictures of the platinums are a must
  17. !drool: The second guy is amazing and the first has beautiful colouring Did you breed them yourself?
  18. I'd lay off on the flaring for at least a week to let him 'reclaim his territory" When you let him flare again make sure to take the mirror away from him before he gives up, even if he can only handle a second before turning into a wuss. This way he thinks he managed to scare the intruder away and win.
  19. Try letting him flare at a small female to build his confidence up.
  20. I know right!? the legal koi. Puffers have human faces which is a bit creepy though
