  1. Good work! I think you've done it very well. IMO plant(s) would almost be a shame in that tank. Seems it doesn't belong. I agree panda Cories or perhaps bandits? Would look good in there and then my suggestion will be a small group of hatchet fish cruising under the surface. I'm gonna watch the video again now cos I liked it so much
  2. Looks very nice. Nicely done! What kind of hose are you using with the Hansen bits and where did you get it?
  3. looks like it has 2 dorsal fins LA? kingfish only have one. :dunno:
  4. Nice! What are we looking at in 2nd pic LA?
  5. I'd say you've had your mind blown too hard cos you've posted the same thing in two thread in two categories :sage:
  6. Just don't breathe in too much of the fumes. It nasty stuff, but yes agree it's safe when dry
  7. 1. Whazz them in the blender. 2. Make ice cubes from guppy mix. 3. Feed to future batches of guppies. Recycling... It's a wonderful thing!
  8. Well the floor won't be concrete block
  9. If we assume a tank with a footprint of 1500x600 total weight is 1000kg. That equals 11.1 kpa (kn/m2) A residential floor designed to NZS3604 will usuall be designed to 2 or 3 kpa depending on what area it is... so NO.. it is not suitable
  10. You say it's a modern apartment. If you have a concrete floor you are fine.. if it's a timber floor I wouldn't do it either.
  11. Ok.. search for Geophagus altifrons.. that is their real scientific name
  12. Hey you are supposed to put posts like that in the "what would YOU like to see on this website" thread Tsk tsk LA
  13. I have some cardinals with some S. leucosticta and they are fine. I once had some neons with some G. altifrons and the neons would go missing during the night. The geos never hunted them but I'm guessing that if a little fish gets too close in its sleep the geo will not miss the chance of a little snack. If you are talking about altifrons then I wouldn't do it if I were you
  14. Hehe yeah when I bought your tank I didn't really know about overflows at all just reckoned I would figure it out along the way. An overflow is an overflow right? How hard can it be? :sml1:
  15. I have same waterfall with only one hole in my 800l tank. One drain is not an option cos makes too much noise and wife complains. So this weekend I will attempt to drill 3 holes in the tank to make this:
  16. Is it an overflow wit a 45° piece of glass in the corner with a hole near the bottom of the tank so the water "waterfalls" into that space?
  17. I would buy a used Eheim profesional 1,2 or 3 on trademe.. if you can find one. and fill it with some sintered glass noodles (also on TM) and then just some fine filter wool (pad) in the top. Best and quietest filter you can get for a tank your size IMO.
  18. :sml1: That guy has got waaaay too much gas... and he's trying to get rid of it it seems! :slfg:
  19. Hang in there mate! hopefully not long to go.. The world is full of idiots and sometimes we are forced to deal with them.

    Coral Rock

Yes give it blast with the hose to get the dust off. Even scrub it a bit. No worries and yes feel free to do a 100% wc once cycled
  21. I hereby put in my order for 5-6 young F1 of these fish to whomever breeds them. Just let me know a month in advance so I can set up a dedicated tank for them.
  22. Now we're talkin!! (off to speak to bank.....)
  23. I unknowingly ordered metronidazole from the us once in the form of API general cure. Bio security had inspected the package but let it go through. It was only later I realized metro is not allowed to be sold over the counter here which is why I couldn't find API general cure in the shops. I'm not saying this is legal or that it would work.
  24. I have ordered a few things there. Some had NZ plug some didn't but came with adaptor
