There is a product called snail rid I think. Copper sulphate or something..
If you could house your fish temporarily in another tank and then blitz the main tank with snail rid and once treatment is done do a few big water changes and introduce fish again..
You might kill off some of your plants too though so if there are some plants you care about a lot then take those out too.
That's a good point Adrienne.
A floor drain in a concrete slab is serious work though and would be very costly.
But I was wondering David if you have thought of the insurrance side of things if something should happen? I guess it would be covered under normal house insurrance?
Looking absolutely awesome David! Very jealous!
Hey that's a big fish in the last pic.. what are you feeding him? Massivore!!! :sml1:
I will have to get on with breeding you an army of F1 Wild discus now! :nilly:
You can also submerge hardscape and hardy plants in a 1:20 bleach solution 30 sec to a minute.
That will kill bba.
But DON'T do this if you have any fish that might feed on the dying bba.
I don't think the API will help.
Flourish excel works but can be an expensive affair (you overdose with co2, ask e.g. hollywoods for help on this)
You can also get yourself a Siamese Algae Eater (SAE) or two.. they are quite good at keep bba down.
That was a 240V plug in one with 28 little buckets so you can put in exactly the amount you want to feed each day (and different types of food)
(not my picture)
Most feeders have a cycle of 24 hrs so will feed at least once pr day.
I've had my 300L on auto feeder once pr day for 7 weeks before.
Had a friend refill feeder and do a water change after 3.5 weeks.
All went well
So you know for sure that you will never ever need an automatic feeder again?
You can get an "el cheapo" feeder on TM for under $20 and it will probably last a lifetime
