  1. Good to hear its sorted Gillian, these things can be a little frustrating but speaking from experience in customer service sometime things just take time to sort out. I doubt you will get any more problems with a new fx5 motor, but if you do let us know and perhaps we can help troubleshoot. Cheers, Scott
  2. Hi Gillian I had pretty much the exact same problem from new with my FX5 which I bought last year, stopping, not restarting after purge etc. Since I have taken to stripping it down and cleaning out the impeller when I clean it out (really easy so long as you have a decent length phillips head) it has run with no problems whatsoever. I put it down to a sensitive sensor or something like that. My substrate is argonite sand and it pulls in a decent amount of that which should cause more problems then it does, I think they are really good filters Scott
  3. My African Cichlid tank is about 350L, I use a FX5 and a 2000Lph Asian brand(Jebo?) canister filter that it came with. Ive read that the cheap filters are more power hungry, and I know they are noisier. On the plus side as far as filtration goes it ran the tank a few weeks on its own and did a great job, its got massive baskets and its pretty much the exact size of the Sunsuns which are also really cheap. If your on a budget it is probably a third of the price as well. Im sure as long as I left the powerhead in there the fish wouldnt notice if I removed a filter. I actually had more trouble getting right and spend more time on maintenence for the fluval believe it or not. Depends what you put in there and how much you need to feed it of course
  4. I would also like the opportunity to join the Auckland Fishkeepers
  5. Your fish look great. Cheers for helping me out today, your fish you sold me look happy enough, The size of these yellows showed me how much the first ones have grown. Be cool to see the tanks you have if you have a link or some pics.

That sand is so white. As for the fish I dunno?
  7. I have a 620T running the hood filter and an aqua one cf1000 and it works awesome, except that it took quite a bit of tweaking to get to work perfect. My original plan was to decommission the hood filter but its so quiet and causes no problems that I've just left it in there. Adding it didn't take more then an hour to do. Good Luck!
  8. Thats a good idea! I honestly never considered that
  9. Thanks anyway, It will probably become much clearer when they start maturing
  10. Its piping because the tank is drilled. I capped it off because I have enough filtration for now. It's an eyesore
  11. Don't worry It's not your computer, I did it wrong. This link appears to work. http://imageshack.us/clip/my-videos/577 ... lnqui.mp4/
  12. Well if you are interested I took a video. In other news the coral rock has turned pretty much all green. I don't know how to do a forum video clip thing. http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/6971 ... mcyali.mp4 http://imageshack.us/clip/my-videos/844 ... jfocv.mp4/
  13. Thanks for the advice, bad news for me I will keep an eye out for problems and do some more research on them. Cheers *Edit - a quick youtube search for Auratus Cichlid has let me know just how much of a ticking time bomb this tank probably will end up being... there is like four of them in there
