  1. You are right livingart. He may not have been in here in his own right but he is usually nearby when I post and I read him out anything I think might be of particular interest, or is funny.
  2. I suspect they like the large flat surfaces of the discus. They will be nibbling on the slime coat. Plecs often do that to discus too
  3. Garden centres. Make sure it is natural peat and not one with mould inhibitors and other stuff that might be toxic to your fish.
  4. I fill mine up with the ceramic noodles. I run a Jebo 819 at the moment and it has thin filter pads in each tray that get very clogged up with black muck but it doesn't impede the flow.
  5. That cake you made for the exec meeting was absolutely divine thank you very much wok. You are an excellent baker. Would you post the recipe in the off topic section? :bounce:
  6. Like Stella, I clean my filters as little as possible.
  7. Yes, females are bigger and fatter.
  8. Well when our Navman died suddenly, a week before we were to head overseas with it, it was sent to Auckland for urgent repairs. A brand new replacement arrived within two days - all programmed with settings and preferences etc to match the previous one. :bounce:
  9. I am just starting the muffins. Not as fancy as wok's chocolate cake but easier to carry in a backpack
  10. Heir, do you mind others adding their good stories or would you rather it be on a separate thread?
  11. Very nice (both the curtains and the tanks) Those blinds are expensive too. My one small one in the kitchen cost more than the rest of the ordinary curtains in the whole dining room (inc those on the ranchslider)
  12. If you have small fry in a tank then a sponge filter is the way to go. You could also run a simple box filter with the lid removed so they don't get stuck in it My Shark internal filter has 2 centre inserts over which fits 2 sponges. I am sure I could remove one insert and sponge and use noodles in that half of it couldn't I?
  13. I don't know. I can't eat sausages these days but others will be able to.
  14. a pointy stick  I have decided to bake some of my popular bran muffins (aka fluffin muffins or poo pellets by my kids) as they are easiest to travel with on the ferry.
  15. You having bad weather up there or someone hit a power pole? :-?
  16. I have not used too many internals so someone else may have some suggestions as which they found best.
  17. Just less surface area on the media. Add noodles if they fit. I do this to my HOB AquaClears and Shark internals. One would assume a UV light would be beneficial but I believe you have to change the bulbs regularly for them to work properly, and the bulbs are expensive.
  18. Hey if there's drugs or dead bodies in that truck you can't blame the dodgy dude! Can you move those other items aside and make room for some blue rams? I have emailed you about it
  19. That's what friends are for!!! (very clean and tidy it was too )
  20. I think you could cut away bits of fin as long as you did not get too close to the actual body.
  21. Perhaps Stella would show you her native fish tanks
  22. I think he sucked on then it dried out too fast for him to unattach himself and slide off again
