What kinds of veges can you feed plecos?

Can you feed them letuce or silverbeet? and what do you weigh it down with? 8)

courgette, cucumber, carrots and potatoes.

cauliflower and brocolli stalks, frozen peas with the hard outer shell removed, pumpkin and sweed just to name a few more. Try them all and see what your fish prefer.

All those veges already mentioned by others, plus most other veges you can think of and a lot of different fruits!

Yes you can feed them lettuce and silverbeet. I use plant weights to hold mine down but you could just put a rock on the leaf.

Whatever you feed them, remove any left overs before they go too soft and squishy and start to fall apart. Your plecos will probably devour the green part of the silverbeet leaf but leave the fibrous stalk uneaten if they can get away with it. Just tell them they can't have any pudding until they finish it.

I find that dropping the veges in boiling water for a few minutes and blanching them makes them sink and you dont need the weigh them down.

I never have any veges left over from my dinner :-?
