  1. Soup! Great in winter and helps fill you up. Have as a snack or a starter before the main course. Do not choose creamy varieties. Pumpkins are cheap at the moment and making your own pumpkin soup is quick and easy Vegetable soup is another low calorie option, as is mushroom if you don't make it creamy.
  2. Some fish are more sensitive than others so one species may show signs of stress or illness when others are fine.
  3. Eheim filters last for years. If yours is not running as well as it used to you need to look and see why, then fix it, not spend money on a new filter. You may find it is an easy fix What sort of maintenance have you been doing on the filter?
  4. Guppies are tropical and need a heater (unless your house is kept at fairly warm temps - eg over 20C)
  5. Us older folk have trouble reading small white fonts on a black background
  6. Clamped fins can be a symptom of many things and a sign of stress. Since you say "community tank" I assume there are other inhabitants? Are all other fish fine and just the angels with clamped fins and lethargy? I am not a fan of adding any chemicals to the water, especially when you have not worked out what is wrong. Have you done water tests?

    The What's Up? thread.

Been at work all day and having to phone a lot of patients to ask about their smoking history in between answering the phone, dealing with patients, writing out scripts, typing up dictation, etc etc etc  Came home for lunch and spent time in the sun working on my jigsaw puzzle then relucatly headed back to work. Came home after work, had tea, then walked into town to Clubs of Marlborough for Quiz Night. Our team, the Foxy Morons, were 4th tonight. Don't know yet how high over-all. Competitions run each school term. Winning team gets $500 to donate to the school of their choice.
  8. I suggest you read the "What's Up?" Thread and you will see what many have been up to.
  9. Perhaps they didn't survive in his undies :slfg:
  10. Is the 'string' stuck to the fish along the whole length or attached only by one end? Any possibility it is some sort of parasite that has attached itself to the fish?
  11. You say it only happened when they changed filters. Was any of the old media used from the original or were they run in tandem for several weeks? It seems to me the nutrient levels are out of whack.
  12. Wait until they start critiquing his driving skills :slfg:
  13. Hello. Just showing members how to post. :smln:
  14. I forgot!!! It is the secretary's job anyway so today she will get a lesson in how to do it She is on dial-up still so does not come here very often, if at all. Jam is a given so no need to mention it!
  15. I would never keep golds or albinos in with the brown as they would interbreed and ruin the colour lines.
  16. ... is today at 8a Faulkland Drive, Blenheim, 2pm. We will be looking at photos taken on our recent combined outing to the Mapua Aquarium with the Tasman Aquarium Club and also photos from conference. Delegates will be giving a run-down on what happened over conference weekend, what was discussed, and what is hoped for in the future. We will also be looking at this web site and showing members how to use it to its full potential. We will be navigating our way around the home page and Members' Only areas so they can see how important it is for club secretaries or treasurers to get the club capitations in ASAP. Until they are received, members will not have access to these areas. It will also be an opportunity to register our club president as, until she has done so, she won't be able to see the Members' Only areas even after her capitation has been received! We will also be nibbling on scones, pikelets and cream plus, possibly, other goodies :spop:

    The What's Up? thread.

Doesn't take much does it? :slfg: What did you do? I delivered some newsletters I had printed off for the Woodworkers' Guild then had lunch with friends. Since I had a lovely roast lunch Grant can cook something for himself tonight. The place we met for lunch had 2 desserts for the price of 1 so since 1 friend wanted a dessert I got the other as a takeout for Grant later (a brandy snap and 2 serves of sticky date pudding). I then spent the rest of the afternoon working on another newsletter for a different group.
  21. In that case it must be... "Eye of newt, and toe of frog, wool of bat, and tongue of dog" If someone else wants to come up with a new puzzle then feel free :dunno:
