  1. Yeah i ordered some spaghnum moss for the moist hide. and getting hooked up with the exo terra desert mat. Will be using artificial grass in this enclosure. Im not happy with the tank size dimensionally. 30 wide just doesnt seem big enough - toying with the idea of getting something like a 75x45x45 made up, better?
  2. Well guess im going ahead with this. Just ordered a heatmat, moss for moist hide, and a shedding hide from ebay. Will get substrate, dishes and a backround next week and then its well on its way.
  3. You can trim it, but its gna grow quite fast... Ditch it and keep with your low level stuff Sagittaria over hairgrass IMO
  4. Youll need more height for polysperma. otherwise you should be good
  5. ooh But saying that this damned 3ft is arc'ed in the middle. Will have to get a heatmat for night heat anyway, as i dont have the beardies heat on at night.
  6. Suppose could just use a 40w spot bulb or something, doesnt need to be UV and cheap as chips. Didnt think they like to bask so to speak as they are nocturnal, and they just need heat for bodily functions? Bottom tank is sweet as it has sliding front doors - and its not like the top tank is full a water, nice and easy to move. Whats your opinion on poly on the top tank? Cheers
  7. Im toying with the idea of setting up a leopard gecko enclosure, and seeing as though ive got a spare 3ft lying around, thought id look into setting one up. As you can see id sit it on top of the beardies viv, testing to see how much heat from my 150w heat emmitter gets into the 3ft - possibly free heating but i doubt it will be enough as i cant place the top viv directly over the heatlamp due to the wiring. Question: Heatmatt or heat lamp (lamp is harder to mount, not sure how safe a heat mat will be between two glass tanks and do i need the poly?
  8. Sorry for your loss Alan. Keep your chin up, these things can and do happen to the best of us unfortunately.
  9. Definately looks to be about the size of record carp we had in the uk. Dunno about the colour though, either photoshopped or its a cross with a golden tench
  10. Dwarf chain loaches. Or 'borrow' a skunk loach, when hes done nailing the snails, give him back to wherever you got him as the tank is too small for him longer term.
  11. problem is they will probably end up in stores anyway. Eventually the importer will probably realise that no-one wants them, and they will grow. they have to go somewhere. They will either be sent as freebies (i once got sent redtail cigar sharks that i didnt ask for, could be a similar thing who knows) or they will list directly on trademe. End result they will end up kept in tanks too small, just face it. yes its very unfortunate for the fish.
  12. true, so theyve got the hard part nailed. making them appear better aesetically is the easy bit then
  13. i popped in there sunday morning. was impressed at the product selection also - biggest ive seen in NZ. fish selection was good, but the tanks didnt look great, either better scaping or higher stocking (in FW anyway) would make them look heaps better
  14. Yum, yeah saw loads of worms out last night, grabbed a few for my beardie. will do another sweep today
  15. if they came with a heftier price tag it would be a different story.
  16. woohoo ive got a spare 110L. its a 50cm cube too so perfect for a pacu.
  17. yep tenelus tenelus looks good, also look at Latisfolia. Speak to Luke oi
  18. go dwarf sag... easier to grow and spreads better, and when you have a true carpet of it, it looks better too.

Yup, came from steve. Extra lighting has resulted in green spot algae, so ive reduced the photoperiod on the glo unit to about 6 hous, around the middle of the day (when nature its most intense)
  21. Just thought id share a LOAD of my fave pics of Yoda. 'he' is about 6 months old now, and growing quite fast. and back when he was littler
