  1. id say enclosures bigger than necessary you could keep 4 in there very comfortably i think
  2. Yeah its awesome, i visit regularly. Best time is start of spring i reckon, found it to be when everythings most active.
  3. Wont ever touch another edge. PITA. Now thats more like it!, where can i get one? aquanet dont have them on their site,
  4. Just a shrimp. Singular. I just sold an Aquaone 340, Too big for what im wanting to do.
  5. so what are we talking here, 5g, 10g? 10gal is reasonable size, could have a fire goby or a clown in there too. 5g on the other hand i could probably manage quite well without live rock, just a small hang on filter with purigen, a small powerhead, and water changes.
  6. What size nano could i get away with for a singular cleaner or fire shrimp? FOWLR. Otherwise will consider a 10G with 2 clowns and a shrimp. Been a while since done marine...
  7. No skimmer better than cheap skimmer. At least when you dont have a skimmer you stock / maintain accordingly, whearas having a skimmer allows you to be a bit slack with such things - a cheap skimmer simply doesnt pick up that slack.
  8. Just work fast. I used to completely re-do my 500L including removing substrate in about an hour.
  9. I looked after our beardies when i was at henderson, im no super expert but do know how to look after them, on a few occaisions where we have been 'audited' by our region manager at periodic intervals, we have been marked down on aspects such as beardie enclosure temps not being what head office dictates them to be - despite protests and reasoning from someone who knows more than they do. Bad enough when the staff dont have a clue, worse when a knowledgable staff member is told they are wrong by someone sitting behind a desk in head office.
  10. unless you feel like wading in the surf at takapuna... then you also have to be mindful of tides etc... how much water you need say per month?
  11. Check out the main display tank in north shore animates A-town got that to carpet pretty well, and a year on still looks good - and that tank is such a pain to work on it wont get trimming.
  12. You dont get an Iggy because they are cute. stick to kittens.
  13. Id focus on the algae problem tbh. large plecos as algae eaters can be a nuisance as they are so messy, not a good trade off imho. A full grown SAE would be good
  14. I had no problems keeping juvenile bichirs with fully grown bristlenoses.
  15. Id just get the smaller RSM tbh. Good size, going huge raises the $$ exponentially, not just in initial cost, but in upkeep also.
  16. nics would be cool. love their colours too.
  17. You cant be certain what will happen, If you do it, make sure you have emergency alternate housing for one of them if it doesnt go well. A breeding pair of CAs will have a go at anything, regardless of size, and they will claim almost all of a tank upto 8ft i reckon. Alternatively they might leave the aro completely alone, especially if the aro likes the upper sections of the tank, and everyones temperments are in favour. Id be inclined to try regardless, just have a contingency ready for the safety of the fish.
  18. Anyone else used these heaters? Am planning a 1ft cube nano (25L) and considering the C25 model, but low temps for plants aint gonna cut it. Was thinking I could run two C17s even, would still look better than a conventional heater, but more $$
  19. Somethings definately not right. apparently leos are an absolute doddle to breed.
  20. Fluval edge = major pain in the bum. Chi would be a better option. Tbh though id rather just get a 1ft cube, choose my own lighting, i25 filter or something and go that way. cheaper too. I havent heard great things about the Fluval co2 systems either. the regulators dont quite fit standard sized co2 bottles so you cant buy cheap or refillable ones, you have to buy the branded fluvals, and no soleniods either.
  21. Anyone had a crack at doing a planted fluval chi? Seeing as though you can get the tiny hagen nano heaters, and now nano co2, and its a beutifully finished tank, wondering how well it would go planted. Bits of concern would be the 11w LED lighting (no idea how good LEDs are with regards to wattage etc... and that filtration system might cause too much surface disturbance to use Co2...
  22. gimme a yell when they are done, ill come down for a visit.
  23. repti glo 10.0 all i ever use now, good to see its a good choice...
  24. it needs an engine :dunno:
