I have a reptapet thermostat, and on trademe they have dimmer ones in the reptile section, which i might have a look at

On that subject, I might start running a day glo bulb rather than an emitter, a dimmer thermostat will be better than a pulse ay? Pulse stat will make the light go on and off constantly! And run a heatmat on a pulse stat.

yeah they arent good for reps that dont take heat from the belly - what happens is they sit on the rock as its usually in the basking area under a lamp, and they get burnts as they cant feel the heat therefore wont move when it gets too hot. or something like that. ive always made a point of steering clear of them. Heatmats or bulbs are always better options.

Pretty much what I did. I used nails as im lazy, and whacking things with a hammer is fun. Its a lot sturdier now. Its now stored away until I decide to get the terrarium made - got to have a think about the design as the last one i got made, due to how it was braced, made it very difficult to mount the lamps nicely.

I went and found some solid pine in the garage, already bracing it and ill just whack a heap more nails in on the existing joints

Ive been wanting to set up a 4x2x2 viv for a while, just that finding a decent stand is difficult / expensive. Just had a brain wave, i have a desk in the garage waiting to be biffed, got the tape measure out, measures 4x2 perfectly Just wondering if it would be strong enough, a tank that size is heavy, but could go 6mm glass to reduce weight (not like its gonna have water in it!) I sat on it, im 75kg, and it was fine, rocks abit, but i could strengthen the joints. But yeah, ok ya reckon?

Dont use carbon unless its for removing medication. I used it if i have it, (with a new filter or whatever) then dont bother replacing it.

the marine glo looks really cool though I have a brand new 24w that im trying to get rid of if anyone wants one... $20

mmm. another good thing to do is to walk around the warehouse and mitre10 mega, borrow a tape measure off the shelf, and see if there are any tables, tv stands, cabinets etc.. that are the right size.

Ive found some good cabinets / sideboards etc.. in the past and never paid more than $80. though your tank dimensions are a bit different, more likely to find stuff thats 450D tbh, but you can always get the tank made to slightly different dimensions if needbe.

5ft tank minimum req? id say 6 minimum, 8 ideal.

Its a numbers game. the more people you spam, the more likely you are to find a a gullible numpty who'll get scammed. I even get texts from these types of scams. some are completely random as per usual scams, others are particular, expressing interest in any vehicles im selling on trademe. Either way, hate them all.

With the glo unit I just nailed some bits of wood either end of my stand. of course on a longer tank its still doable as the bits on the end of the light extend.

Tapajos arent available, i dont even think theyve ever been here. which is a shame as they are a geo that doesnt get huge.

As bad as it may sound, having the backing of a large nationwide pet shop would help - would add a lot of weight. Just not sure how and if it would work, as everyone seems to enjoy bagging this particular company. They have helped MAF out on occaision too,
