  1. i used a paint scraper. had no choice as a fancy pleco had wedged itself underneath. was actually really easy to carefully pry it off, and re-silicone it too.

    Fx5 help

im not entirely sure what you mean, but im very familiar with the clips. I cut a few squares of thick cardboard (like moving box cardboard) and packed out the clips until the held well.
  3. agreed! I do prefer large tanks barebottom though
  4. lucky it came out. Ive seen an instance where a piece of driftwood had been left out of the tank overnight, and a loach was still in its hole
  5. we had one at work where one would bury itself inside a small crevice in driftwood. it kinda got stuck in there for days. I ended up using forceps to delicately as possible pull him out, but couple of days later, he was back in there. Only way as no holes or cracks for them to get into.
  6. so henward do you have more than Ronnie now?
  7. i get heaps of stuff sent from overseas via ebay - most of which comes from USA, UK and hong kong. on ebay, if using the global trading portal, it will only list stuff available to NZ. and even display everything in NZ currency.

    Colourless oscars

A nice specimen red oscar is stunning.
  9. i got one in a few months ago, thought they were pretty manky and ugly tbh
  10. that dome would be good perhaps to run a UV compact?
  11. Yup its the Juwel paper backround. currently got it on 2 vivs and a fish tank  and the XL was perfect size for this, no cutting required Cost me $32 though
  12. the amount of people who let regos lapse when its free to put them on hold is astonishing. And no, its only for motor vehicle traders that must have a current wof and rego to sell - ie. road legal. with the amount of rego theres not even a requirement, most used dealers give ya 3 months, but ive found even with bikes now (due to $) most will only give you 1 months rego.
  13. Nah, but its got gaps at the back, at least half way across on each side of each lid. if its inadequate ill just throw some vents into the top, with maybe a small fan
  14. Cheers guys, Yoda seems to be liking it. Yesterday when he spent the day in the empty 4ft he wasnt too pleased, spent most of the time staring at me whilst thrashing his tail around  Im waiting on moonlighting, which will provide a tiny bit of night time heat, and will look cool
  15. Arrived and setup today. Its been a few weeks in planning and making. Ended up just waiting on the tank itself. Its a 150L x 45D x 60H. Wanted more height to build driftwood high for climbing (when i find the right bits) and to make all the fixtures etc.. nice and tidy so made a 2-piece lid too. pics:
  16. Mt eden is good, but there is better stuff out there. there album is legally available for free download too i beleive so worth doing. Dubstep also has a vast scope, some stuff is crazy and thats what some people like. Ill send you the list once im out of bed and had a coffee
  17. Wrong, its how they produce the heat. In a really simple concept its like cars, take every 2.0L car on the market, they arent all going to get the same economy are they? It will be something in the design of the heater, typical germans. They can get more power out of an engine half the size of one of those crappy australian v8s.
  18. Hey Bikbok, I have A LOT of dubstep, most of which you cant buy via compilations and whatnot. I shall PM you a list of my fave tracks for you to check out.
  19. >Dont grow plants that require lighting >Dont have big messy fish or highly stocked tanks that require beefy filters >Turning your heaters down a bit helps too - nearly all tropical fish can live at say 24C rather than 27C >Eheim jager heaters ARE more efficient - per watt they can heat greater bodies of water than other heaters. Mind you, if you go eheim filters too they tend to use up next to no power. >Clean your filters more regularly - including impellor, shaft and impellor well - so they run more efficiently.
  20. Oh, meh it would look funny. I ordered the 5ft today. Built the hood for it today, just needs a lick of paint.
  21. Id love 150x60, but dont have a stand. the sideboard cabinet i have is 150x45, dont want to have to get another piece of furniture... In a longer tank ill have a better temp gradient too.
  22. Yeah im leaning toward that too...
  23. Mine is 40cm at 6 months.... 750 is just waay to small Move into the 1200 then 1500 later, its always fun setting up new enclosures
  24. Im getting my beardie a bigger home, currently lives in a 120x45x45. Main reason for upgrade is want more height - my bulbs and heater are mounted inside the enclosure, and i want to build up driftwood and stuff so he can climb, but i dont have the height as distance between bulbs and floor is under 30cm. The options I have: 120Lx60Hx60D 150Lx60Hx45D I have a desk which i just braced which will fit the 4ft, but the much nicer sideboard i have which has the current viv on, allows me to go 5ft long, but only 45 deep. I prefer the idea of the 5ft with height. Which is a better option? extra foot long versus extra 15cm deep?
