    New 3ft Marine

Hi Brennos. Heres the list. T5 Light unit, + marine glo and powerglo tubes Tank is 50x50x50 Stand is a 60x60x60 Skimmer is a Dymax XP30 rated to 200L Filter is an aquaclear, not necessary but i used it to run a bit of filter wool and my chemical media 2 x powerheads for circulation Heater is a jager 150w 20kg of rock, and argonite sand got a mini hydrometer, and digital thermometer. All pretty straight forward really. I am breaking down this tank, PM me if you are interested.
  6. They are cool. I currently have 2 in a tank along with a ctenopoma, a dat,a butterfly and some small bichirs.

    Morcs' Juwel

I completely forgot you still had my fish  dont worry about it, i get them cheap Got some pics of the columbians. They decided to all be stationary for a few minutes. was quite funny. Wondering if adding a pair of GBAs would interfere with the breeding my late night snacking on eggs...

    Morcs' Juwel

I probably wont be able to resist raising them They are without a doubt my favourite cichlid and ive been waiting for them to come in for a long time. Just never decided to have just a pair in a tank.

    Morcs' Juwel

Juwel Rio 180L beech Filtration is Standard at current. Will add a 205 on it soon. Substrate is Pool filter sand. Plants include: Amazon swords (babies), Crypts (petchii, cordata, wendtii, becketii) Livestock 1 x Salvini Pair (female is looking good, still not at full colour yet!) 14 x Columbian Tetras (bala shark is in here temporarily) Been running 3 days, looking good. hoping to get the salvinis breeding - though not too bothered about raising the fry. Going to be doing 50% weekly Water changes on this. hopefully can get the crypts growing nice and bushy along the back.
  10. just found this pic... lovely dog. despite it looking like it was going to take my arm off in the photo...
  11. it would be good if there is truth in this, as snail-rid products cannot be used in softwater (im guessing they will cause a ph crash otherwise)
  12. Id probably do the same, and yeah run filter wool in there too. Its probably possible to rig it up so if running only 1 external to route the outlet out of the stock outlet too... ooh ideas are forming now
  13. I miss having gerbils. they are rad. way cooler than mice hamsters suck. little kids squeeze them and make their eyes bulge to the verge of popping out.
  14. Yep ill probably add a fluval 205 or eheim 2213 in conjunction with the standard filter. Or might try and modify the standard filter. and if that fails get a 305 or 2215
  15. Looking good bro, but bear in mind with dark gravel you will probably need like a 4ft twin T5 light unit, otherwise the tank will seem dark as - was the first thing i noticed when i changed from sand to black grit. you might be able to get away with a twin T8 unit with decent bulbs (powerglos) tho.
  16. Sweet thats good enough for me. Now to go and drain the tank thats currently sitting in the way :bounce:
  17. Picking up a brand new juwel rio 180 tomorrow. going to run the standard filter system. Just wondering how noisy they are? im wanting to put it in my bedroom... anyone whos used one in such a situation please lemme know (one in the shop isnt good to judge noise level!) Cheers

    New 60l

They probably didnt appreciate such a big water change... especially considering there wouldve been a change in salinity and temperature probably too...

    New 60l

youll probably have to let it die off. some fish or snails will eat it too. anything you do to the rock to clean it might kill the bacteria? i dont think a water change wouldve helped personally - just giving the algae a fresh supply of nutrients... Id reduce the lighting hours, and get a phosphate remover into the filter. My phosphates tested at 0, but i started running phos-gard and the algae started reducing the next day.... theres probably a better way, but im just following logic - to get it to die off, starve it of light and nutrients.
  20. its still probably going to look empty... id go with a pair of angels...
  21. Nice! Nah had it for a while. Just got a lappy so I can travel, so the gaming machine and wheel will be sold - still got to complete a few games first then ill sell.
  22. In a situation like this I dont think blame can (and should) be pinpointed. Everyone could potentially be blamed - the dog, the girl, the owner, Animates, the food company etc.. Trying to prevent what only could be described as an unfortunate incident from happening again is paramount and from what ive seen thus far the company are taking this extremely seriously and their actions thus far have been good. I will strive to get an update on how the girl is doing. Last I heard she was in surgery getting her lip recontructed.
  23. I dont know. Though it was to 'refresh' us on dog safety guidelines. though in my opinion re-iterating common sense.
