While it is prominent here that females remain un-bristled it is not always the case, females can have bristle around the lip but only a male's will travel up the head.

It can be done but not with ease as essentially there two chemicals fighting, adding a fresh piece of driftwood will stain the water and given you have a high immediate kh shouldn't fluctuate a great deal. You will have to monitor everything though as it will eat away at your kh faster than it can replenish itself.

Tannic acid, is exactly that. I dont know why you would want them separate? any black water in nature is going to be high in co2 and organic break down, so any fish with black water should already be adapt.

Breeding 2 of the albino offspring together will give you the best odd's of what you're trying to achieve. The genes in each will be Dominant albino + Dominant albino with brown recessed genes this will give you albino and brown in the first breeding, and Dominant shortfin recessed longfin, this will give you some shortfin and some longfin. From there you continue selecting the best of the quality your after.

Bleach doesn't work, it eats the bone an send oils within the bone to the surface (hence the smell) i cant recall the appropriate procedure but if you search maceration past the flesh stage will lead you to the cleaning of the bone.

Then longfin wont show, as its recessive, you will need to breed the young to get the genes to show, until the they are just carriers.

Those last pictures are either a variant or natural hybrid they are not simply convict's. There is a documentary called Nicaragua by Ad Konings and Willem Heijns that illustrates the wild convict cichlid along with numerous other central americans. -
Weighing in at just 45 grams and ovulating, seem's to enjoy this position? none of the others do.
