Osmoregulaton is a major, it allows the up take of minerals and dispelling of toxins, working similar on a biological scale to how a ro unit works, kh allows the gravity of water to flow correctly through the fish as to there biological settings. Kh, and Gh while broad spectrum's can be tolerated are essential.

I miss my snakes like you wouldn't believe (Wagga wagga NSW) 2 meter olive was my best mate. But the wife wanted a change so we moved here, now im keeping leopard geckos dragons and skinks, not the same but at least there herps.

Looked all up the waitakere river from bethells nothing -
This is her first season but laying 2 every 4 weeks on her 3rd set now, my biggest female is weighing 98g after laying a single egg and am yet to see another.

My best female i just weighed, she's sitting at 62grams after having laid.

I bred mine at about 50 grams nothing was laid until recently with the biggest female weighing 100+, the most productive female id have to weigh but she is about 70-80g roughly.

Heat tape and cable you can get off ebay, it would be hard to regulate temperature like you want (heated end etc) as the heat will permeate throughout the container. I use heat cable in one corner of the enclosure, and this creates a heated area but also an ambient temperature, which is maintained by being on 24/7 no thermostat. -
Cover all but one side (front) of the enclosure.

Iv built custom enclosures with heat cable running through, built to be functional easily maintained yet still displayable. I friended Paul Kent a while back love his stuff (particularly diablo's)

I caught some while i was there putting bread around my finger then grabbing there bottom jaw once they bit. From my last count there where 4 species of unwanted fish in there. -
Very well done, better off with a fry grow out tank rather than a net breeder.

Few more escape stories than im comfortable with..... lol Agreed there going to go to heat and dark, my snakes would go for under the electric blanket in the instance they got out. -
