  1. hopefully you find him.... last thing we want to hear is 'Bearded Dragons Established in north shore!' GOOD LUCK!
  2. turtles are most vunrable out of water, and they know this. They keep to the water unless they are sure of their sorroundings... But they must always have access to a dry area...
  3. sure its not a otto? could be...??? just a thought?
  4. if you get females from your LFS 99% chance they will be pregnaunt... If not all you need is a handful of females and one male... 10 mins later your male is surplise.... Females can remain pregnaunt for up too 6 months off one intercourse. After about 28 days you will have babys!!! and LOTS!!! you can either... 1) put lots of floating plants and some of the fry will survive 2) remove the adults and let the fry remain 3) place the female in a trap and raise the fry to a decent size and let them back into the tank when big enough FAR to easy to breed!!! just get a nice strong strain and you will be set
  5. clowns are a great fish to start with... but some research is needed... They are prone to white spot, and the move from the LFS to your tank could do the trick... so you must be VERY careful when transporting them. Now you say this fish are small, Clowns are biostrous but do you keep and other fish that may be causing them trouble? again easily stressed... White spot... When it comes to filtration, a nice big powerful internal or even better and small canister is needed, they do make a mess... Or keep up with water changes and good gravel cleaning once a week will help get out fish poo and left over food. Also by dead you mean dead? not lying on their sides? again this is something clowns do so dont get worried if you look into the tank and the are lying on their sides. They do this... White spot... HALF DOSES!!! very sensative gills and you can easily damage them! Not only that make sure their is NO carbon running in your tank. Even when the spots are gone treat the tank for another five days to make sure you get the little suckers... Then add carbon and a nice big water change...
  6. Eukanuba do a specalist food for GS... With this it comes with a booklet on it, I highly recomend going to your pet store that carries this brand of food and ask them to get your the booklet. Also No dont exercise a puppy until about 18months, back yard games are fine at this stage. STIMULATION is all they need... Um bermise are big push overs, they are used to lug large cart loads so VERY powerful dogs but just a big sofety all up.
  7. You have a few options available... 1) get a GS leave it at home during the day... then take him out at night for a series amount of exercise... 2) get two, they will keep themselves sorted... then take them both out at night for a series amount of exercise... I have 4 dogs and dont have a issue... do you know allot about GS?
  8. Reeves are very poor swimmers, so easy access to land area is a MUST!
  9. Housing? What have you got? I know its not good to keep them in groups so how do you guys do it?
  10. I would recomend a ring neck... so much more quiet.
  11. well if you want to get the tortoises to be released into private hands you are going to have to apply for a release. Due to them already being in the country, and MAF cant prove that they where smuggled then they are here to stay. I am trying to keep up with the play but im not fully in the loop with what is happening. From emailing ERMA they have the final say not DOC or MAF. ERMA in my opinion will not allow the release of these animals from the facilities that they are held in, but that means that we should still try. If you try to go through a controlled release i firmly believe that it will be allot harsher than that, such as only desexed males to be sold. this is to stop any possability of these animals establishing themselevs. Now this defeats the point because most people want to breed from them? You would have to go with a full release, and this costs around $37,000 and still doesnt guarantee them to be released. I suggest go with controlled release, and get some solid evidence that these post no threat to the sorrounding ecosystem. What we really need is MAF to create a IHS for the reptiles in NZ so we can... A) know what we can/cant keep B) know what type of disease that MAF are looking for C) control what is kept privatly in NZ But i doubt it will happen... Just my opinion...
  12. Is anyone going down to wellington? I have a L114 and L190 that i was wondering if someone would drop off to catfish... im not so keen on shipping as of now due to the Christmas period starting.
  13. firstly if you are worried about ph flucs then add carbon. Will keep ya tank at 7 but must be changed every 6 weeks. However is this situation if you are using meds then dont add carbon... You need to be using some sort of white spot cure, the Ph crash could of caused the stress forming white spot.
  14. this is what you do... raise the temp to 29-30... you can only kill white spot when its in the water not the fish... so when it leaves the fish to find a new host thats wen it gets zapped. White spot cure from you LFS will do the trick... start with half a dose because of the gills of the pictus are fragile... after white spot has gone, treat for 3-4 more days and really really clean the gravel bed. There has been reports that it can acctually survive in there but dont quote me on that... Also remove any carbon... and goodluck.
  15. Well bio... Not enough time, 4 essays plue three other papers? didnt even get a chance on open cells... The Questions i thought where poor... Also eng today... was better, now i just have to play the waiting game... when do we get our results???
  16. Bio Eng Geo Hist Should probly start revising... MEH mayby...
  17. yup its called a containment facilty. Then you can keep what you want in it to a extent. Like if i wanted to import reptiles... I would need a IHS to import them, this doesnt mean i can sell them though just import them. Then i would need to keep them in the containment facility then apply through IMER to release them... (please note far more complicated then this) Also when i talked to MAF about the costs. $2000 for the licence every year, then you have to pay for MAF to come out and check it every so often to make sure its all up to date... Yes you can but VERY expensive...
  18. Now if we are going to about how MAF is run i can safly say its naf... Being a island we are cut of from the rest of the world. Thus it makes it far more easier to protect and keep safe from all sorts of nastys. In New Zealand we have some of the worlds most strangest wildlife such as our frogs and what not. They do need protecting and they should be. When it comes to the fish list is does annoy me. We can import livebearers riddled with disease and can and do live in our waterways when fish that wont even stand a chance cant be? Doesnt make sense? If we want to add fish to the list, take a number and waite what 3 years? when someone completes all the paper work it would take a few hours for the qualified scientist to look over it. These documents cost us money so its not like they do it out of their own pocket. I dont like how we cant import goldfish, it does annoy me. we have them already but for the lovly fancy ones that cost upwards of a few hundread each? why not? of they are disease free? why not?
  19.         You really have got up my alley... I LOVE REEVES AND WONT TO START A BREEDING GROUP! Good to see that the presence of these cuties will be carried on with a nice big group like that... Hope you didnt get them at $300 a pop. The water looks a little to deep to me, but mayby wrong.
  20. Charlie

    Pleco

plecos are hardy and fine with most substrate. Just done use sharp point stuff as it may cut their bodys. Also be careful that the gravel or whatever you plan on using is fish safe :bounce: I use bare bottom due to it being to easy to clean...
  21. Who breeds these guys... Tropheus Ikola
