I use ASW because I find it a lot easier and cheaper than waiting months for the tides to be right when the weather's right so I can go get the water then having to drive 45 minutes out to get it, spend half an hour getting water then 45 minutes drive back. Actually, I've got a big box of salt sitting outside the front door that was delivered sometime today. Probably should go get it.

Like wasp says, it looks bleached. If that's the case then it probably was kept in a tank with too low of light. So throwing it in your tank with, I assume, a lot brighter light would shock it and it's just trying to get away from the painfully bright light. Anemones seem to survive ok while bleached as long as you feed them. Mine's been bleached for about 2 years and has about tripled in size.

I personally don't really like the idea of intentionally releasing any non-native animal into the environment.

I think it should stabilize the PH somewhere around 8.4.

I got some bits from Wasp. Took 2 days to get here. The Montipora frag is dead, I think. It's lost most of its flesh. But a couple mushrooms and zoanthids seem fine.

Probably whistling tree frogs or golden bell frogs, I think those are the two most common ones in pet shops.

I fail to see how a free water change with NSW is a problem, Evil?

Noone seems to be able to agree on whether metal rusting in the tank would cause a problem or not. But, still, I'd try replacing that with a bearing that doesn't rust. There's probably more than just iron in it.

It depends. Are you feeling cold or hot? If you want to direct the air at the water's surface blowing would be best. If you're trying to vent the air to a specific place(Like out a window or something) then it would probably be best to have them sucking. The total volume of airflow is going to be similar either way.

Fluval 404 or similar flow Jebo filter should do well.

Keep in mind if you have the fans sucking air out of the hood you'll have heaps of nice moist salty air doing its best to eat your fans.

Anywhere on top of the tank is fine.

Pretty much looking pretty is the major one. You can get some nice cold cathode fluoros from Dick Smith I think that should work well.

Go here:http://home.comcast.net/~jdieck1/chem_calc3.html and figure out how much you need to raise the magnesium by about 100ppm. Then add that each day for 2-3 days.

I seem to average a usage of about 40 grams of magnesium a day, that's including water changes. I don't know what's eating so much magnesium in my tank. Maybe I'm going to find my clowns firing off some flares or something someday. Stocking up on sparklers for new years maybe?

Oxygen doesn't get you high. If you really want the same effect, just breathe fast for a minute.

Also a lot of the extra costs of buy retail would IMO be eliminiated by store with huge stocks of equipment and livestock. If I'm pretty much garaunteed to get any bit I want when I go there, I will. But 90% of stores have all the same basics and that's about it.
