  1. It would have had to have been practically dipped in a vat of pesticide and tossed in the tank to be that deadly.

    Wrasse Id Please

It's a real pain in the wrasse when they do that. (Sorry, couldn't resist)
  3. Gold Severums don't like oranges. Maybe it makes them feel like cannibals.
  4. a 150w MH will be a little under $10/month to run at 8 hours a day. So skip a day going out to dinner, that'll pay for about a years worth.

    Airated tank?

Not much, at least not in the range between so little oxygen all the fish/corals die and tank full of foam.
  10. Nope, all it has to be is wood. Just wood out of a swamp tends to be really dirty and will have absorbed all kinds of mud.
  11. If the wood isn't sinking, just pile more rocks on top of it. Those look fine, just give them a good wash to get some of the spider webs off it(Spider webs will turn your fish into axe murderers) and throw it in the tank with some rocks piled on top.
  12. Hmmm, Yeah, could be the seals have compressed.
  13. Try smearing some vaseline on the seals. Could help seal it up if it's a tiny little leak or if the seals just getting mooshed out of position a bit.
  14. So you have to suck out the few stray fragments of wood as it breaks down over a few years, who cares? That's like worrying about a dripping tap during a flood.
  15. They do add a tiny amount of oxygen directly from the bubble to the water, but not much. They add heaps of current though. Hard to get a power head to beat the amount of water an airstone moves for similar power usage.
  16. I wouldn't worry about what it does to the water. The browning is harmless, usually very minor and unless you have very light demanding plants will only make the water a bit dark for a little while.
  17. It's really complicated and drawn out process to tell if the wood is suitable to put in a tank. Step 1: Look at driftwood. Step 2: Identify if driftwood is driftwood or not. Step 3: If driftwood is wood, identify if it's clean or not. Step 4: If dirty, clean it. Step 5: Put in tank.
  18. A couple dollars each, I'm not sure, never checked the prices.
  19. Stop by your local liquor store and buy a pile of those little bottles they usually keep at the till.
  20. Ugh, this is a lot of work. I've cleaned all the sand out of my sump and some of the sand out of the main tank. Next water change I'll try and suck out the rest of the sand. My tank's been looking pretty crap for over a year, decided it's time to do something drastic. My sump looks so nice and clleeeeeaaaan...
  21. Anyone know what voltage T5s run at? I know they're generally higher wattage, but once you have the endcaps if the voltage is the same, you shold be able to use say a 50 watt 5 foot T8 setup to run a 3 foot(or whatever) T5?
  22. Leopard fish are a noxious pest? Sure you're not confusing them with Mosquitofish?
