    Combatable?

Jewels? the red is a nice contrast with the yellow...not an African expert so just a stab here
  2. Oh and dont get me to look after em...they die
  3. Lol thats not overstocked, my tanks are overstocked, i just keep an eye on the nitrates and ammonia I havnt had a prob in my community tank for ages
  4. DO NOT USE A NET ON PICTUS you wont get it out without cutting it Make sure they have all their whiskers intact
  5. Concrete floor. Its whether my boss can take an 8 ftr, Im gonna sneak in a planted nano on my desk first and see how it develops from there.
  6. To cut out a divider I have found that a very thin stainless steel wire works well. Think Piano wire. slip it between the glass, a slight sawing motion and you're sweet
  7. Is it wrong that I want one too now?
  8. OMG! they are nuts! Youd need a biig strong aquarium for thos suckers
  9. All gone now thats $126 down the porcelain express. I got worried about the lone pictus in an agressive tank so I moved him to my Community tank, I had hoped cories would stop him pining until I found a healthy mate for him (ruined a good net in the process). It looks like my sneaky bully is back in action in this tank (ironic that he gets killed after I move him from my SA cichlid tank so he'd be safer) this morning hes is missing most of his tail and he has massive patches of skin missing. I put him down
  10. I have had surprisingly good luck with Vets in Hamilton. I went to Animates had a chat with the vet nurse told her I needed some Prazi, Vet was busy but rang me back same day, we discussed the medication as well as other wormers. she offer to get a some prazi in for me, just have to fill in a form to say why I want it and if I kill my fish she isnt liable..sweet! too easy. Am trying to track down a small amount (less than 4 L) of Levamisole atm I will post details of the outcome soon
  11. :bounce: OMG :bounce: Thats so cool I want to dive there!
  12. Electrical engineer, Estimator and business development manger for electrical contracting company....sparkynat come up to Hamilton and I'll get you a new job. I enjoy my job but would rather be asleep
  13. I cant compete with the master but I am at least mildly insane. 1x planted nano 1x 2' 3x3' 1x5' I took up fish keeping about 8 months ago. I now spend all my cash on this dam addiction, I refer to the owner of my LFS as "My Dealer" I now have a nice big office at work and a wall that would take an 8 footer beautifully
  14. Look at his Signature, it shows what he's got in his tank
  15. Danios', rasboras, nice fast active fish, almost as cheap as neons an IMO harder to kill
  16. Go for a coarse sand, I have and will never go back to gravel, so easy to clean just vac off the top and give it a good raking over once per week
  17. Tell me more about the dividers, the fry are bloody tiny how do you get enough circulation through the tank without losing fry though the holes? slots?
  18. this is its big brother, all the parts there?
  19. Dwarf Gourami's FTW! Honey gourami are gorgeous and would rock with a nice big school of rummies.
  20. Dam but seriously hes worth at least 150-200 even to the tight buttocked people on this forum they live for 25 years and at 14" hes still got some growing to do so you cant really apply the argument that he's past his prime.
  21. I could say that but it was my choice. I got cocky and ignored my own common sense, nobodies fault but mine. They prob would have been fine if they were dosed with melafix, isolated at the LFS for a week. Then the moving stress wouldn't have knocked em around so much. Hindsight is a wonderful thing....I think I may buy a crystal ball or some Tarot Cards before I buy my next expensive fish....either that or just dont be stupid.

    Tonic salt

I haven't used it yet but was considering it, apparently its all about enhancing the electrolytes etc, I also talked about it with a mate of mine who is a biologist, and hes was rabbiting on about better oxygen uptake due to water density...my eyes glazed over at that point.
  23. Warning to all Dont buy pictus with nipped whiskers I'm down to one now they other two developed infections at base of whiskers, moved to eyes and karked it within 2 days. There is no such thing as a good deal I'm Sooo P**sed off i shoulda known better
