Watch for infections or fungal attacks, I have successfully treated my BN with furan 2 if it looks dodgy i'd isolate her and give her a course of that. BN are tough, but I wouldn't keep em with any turtles I know. Good luck

post a pic of the suri Mystic if its a female that would give me and living art a breeding pair each, we are sharing atm. Just so people know Livingart and myself have 3 big males and a female between us, so we would be keen for a nice big female or 2 so we can get these guys swinging

The tube you have is only 4000 kelvin colour temperature (the 40 on the end of the 840) you want some with a higher # for a more brilliant blue/white, 65 (6500K) is good for plants, but you can go much higher. Basically the higher teh colour temp the more blue in the light. There are loads of threads on here about lighting, look in the technical section

google cotton mouth, look at the pics and see if that looks like what you have. It could be herpes stop kissing your fish when you have cold sores

I personally prefer to give the gravel a good vac every other week, I find it helps keep the water clearer. Every A surface vac usually does the trick for me.

Interesting I had 3 med sizes BN with a breeding pair of Cons, no issues at all. Depends on the fish I guess. How about a couple of big apple snails?

I find that striata loaches are good snailers too, they don't get as big as Clowns and are more hardy, apparently they also don't mind being in smaller groups either.

How can anyone be sure David, the first fish that sprang to mind for me was some kind of weird flowerhornish hybrid, mainly due to the head shape. I had to search through a bunch of pics to find that one which ID'd it as a RD. Snookie has some, it would be interesting to see some pics of his to compare.

No fin nippers in there...I'm at a loss, you could get a breeding trap and put the male in there to give the girls a rest for a week and see if they recover, that would eliminate the boy as a culprit.

Good luck finding legal Paua around there they are rarer than Rocking horse poop. Are you talking about Coromandel town or the whole Peninsular?

I wouldnt have thought it would be the male, what else do you have in there? It may be fin rot, which is basicly a water quality issue, test the water if you can and do some regular water changes, add some melafix that will enhance the slime coating and help prevent infection. If you want to save some fry from the girls have a look at hoodies post a few days ago. All I can suggest, good luck

I have used them successfully in my 5' new world cichlid tank, I used a handful of shells, they are mostly dissolved now, must get some more, the ph raised a tad but sits at 6.5-7
