  1. Geez...when did I say that ? I Have no recollection at all. There must have been copious amounts of bourbon involved that night. 8)
  2. That mould/fungus became a parent for the first time last night This is my second pair to spawn. The first pair have spawned 3 times.
  3. Some Pics of mine. I'm still dreaming about getting some true goldens but hopefully it wont be too far away. As discussed before I also have crossed one of these males with a GBA and will continue to work with the offspring.
  4. The Motueka river was the highest I had seen in years yesterday, It broke its banks upstream at tapawera yesterday and few residents needed evacuating. Water was everywhere on the flats below us but is dissapearing pretty fast now. At least all my rainwater tanks (65,000L) are now full
  5. This is a first for me and i've been working on it for some time so im quite chuffed. I believe that raising the fry is quite a challenge also. This is the best pic i could get
  6. This thread has lots of interesting pics of pearling plants. http://www.fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/vie ... 5075&hilit
  7. I agree Alan. I just felt that it was worth pointing out.
  8. Check out this thread about making blackwater. http://www.fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/vie ... &sk=t&sd=a Note that on page 2 that a member had his cockatoo's die atfer a couple of days of using tea bags.
  9. Yes I realised my mistake as soon as i posted   Not that I'm anal at all
  10. Thanks for explaining it so well Jen I kept my reply to fluids and liquids as I didn't know how to get into solvents without getting too anal P44 I assumed that you understood reverse osmosis water purification that removes the solvents from water
  11. The definition of osmosis is not restricted to water. Osmosis can occur with any fluid or liquid
  12. No problems at all. We need to do as much as we can to get a good stock of healthy, locally breed fish. Caryl if you let me know when Grant is going to pick it up i will have everything organised.
  13. I only had 1 survive out of the group of 5 that I purchased. You are welcome to it if you are happy to pay the shipping expences.
  14. I keep a couple of these in my African community tank
  15. Throw a hand full of salt in the tank. It will help neutralise the effects of the nitrite until you get home
  16. If you can, Go for a Y joiner instead of a T. Trying to pump water around a 90 deg corner is very inefficient and will result in a big drop in the LPH the the filter will pump.
  17. If it doesn't fit your bottle, the money you save will buy 10 adapters
  18. Same seller, same product but a different link http://cgi.ebay.com/CO2-regulator-solen ... 3a57dc6a05 Make an offer. I offered him USD$50 each for 2 units and he accepted.
  19. I think they can be irradiated but I'm not sure if that makes them infertile
  20. There is no reason why you couldn't tee both returns into the one spray bar. You would need to enlarge the holes in the spray bar so it didn't restrict the increased flow.
  21. Is that first rating meant to be 1000lph and not 100 ? If by linking them together you mean putting both of them in the same tank then the answer is yes. I have 2 x CF1200's in a 5 footer, one at each end of the tank.
  22. Bio balls work better in a wet/dry situation so in a canister you are better off with noodles
  23. I have a spare brand new 40 litre per minute compressor that will do the job nicely. PM me if you are interested.
  24. You may find this site helpful http://dinardiengineering.com/blog/?p=34 I am using the Herbie method that they talk about because its silent and it uses two pipes so it offers redundancy in case of a blockage.
