I used to make my own and the set up costs were nothing like that.
A pot still is the cheapest option.
Plus you can use the excess co2 from your fermentation process in your planted tanks
It makes you wonder if they are Rio's. Coz Rios only grow to 12cm so you wouldn't expect near adult size in that short time.

It depends on what their main purpose will be.
meat,milk,to graze a small paddock or just coz they look good.
I had a Red Devon Stud farm a few years ago so I am a bit biased
The SAE's aren't a problem.
The Borleyi and Kenyi are still young and peaceful. I plan to remove them as they mature leaving it a dem/e.yellow tank again
