hmmm. it looks like it may have some keyhole cichlid blood in it too
  3. So the parents were hybids with mixed genetics then.
  4. Thats like saying aulonocara sp. stuartgranti maleri red is the same as Aulonocara stuartgranti (Cobue) but just a different colour or golden bristlenose catfish are the same as brown bristlenose catfish and the difference is probably a sex thing. A rather naive assumption IMO
  5. Does it look similar to this ? If so its a long finned peppered cory which are relatively common these days.
  6. I am not trying to cause an argument either but I wouldn't class a strain as pure after only two generations and i certainly wouldn't use the word "resembling" in my definition. eg I could cross two separate species of Aulonocara and get all the offspring to "resemble the parents" but they would be far from a "pure strain"
  7. Not even close and thats why is so hard to get "pure strains" of fish in NZ
  8. I use pipi and oyster shells in my sumps and canister filters. In some tanks I have crushed shells mixed with the substrate. If you have concrete water tanks you probably wont need to add anything.
  9. I could probably spare 1 Nymphoides indica and 1 Eleocharis dulcis although its in my outside pond so is dormant at this time of year. Limnophila aromatica I used to have but dont any longer try P44 Hygrophila angustifolia http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/f ... 641250.htm
  10. Potomogeton cheesmanii ? This is it in a stream up the road from me
  11. My wife is known as the "Fishwife" in our household This from wikipedia

  13. I recently got NLS and some 5 foot florescent T5HO tubes from kensfish. It was well packed and everything arrived in one piece
  14. I will drop some off tomorrow with the fish
  15. I have a few different Nepenthes species that I am hoping will flower this spring/summer If they do I will save you some seeds
  16. They are good mates and often hang out together. Here's another pic
  17. Not the best photo but the gold nugget is 13-14cm
  18. Yesterday I purchased some copper fish bling for above the 8 footer. Now I am debating if I should highlight them with 1 or 2 spotlights or if that will deflect too much attention from the tank. Who else has fish bling? Show us ya bling
  19. I purchased it as a fingerling from Animal Antics in Tauranga when I was there for a work seminar in November 2008. I will try for an in tank photo but I don't see it out very often now that its older.
  20. With my hand in that position the distance between my thumb and little finger is almost 20cm You guys must have small hands And you know what they say about small hands :slfg:
