  1. If you dont want the mulm etc that is associated with using leaves, you could try jbl aquatrop J
  2. My larger pieces arrived today. My camera is not good enough to get good macro shots
  3. Mine arrived last friday but the pieces were so damn small you could hardly see them. I had a good moan to the seller and 20 new pieces that are the advertised 2-3cm in length are being supplied f.o.c.
  4. Many moons ago when I was 18, I broke my neck while body surfing in Queensland. I was diagnosed as a tetraplegic and told that I would probably never walk again. I walked out of hospital three month later.
  5. Wicked photo Thats the next POTM
  6. It is possible to breed them at 9-10 months but realistically you shouldn't expect anything to happen until they are at least a year old.
  7. That's excellent news Alan, I know there is a few golden and albino longfin out there but I haven't managed to get my hands on any yet
  8. Here's a couple more Pic's
  9. When he is hanging upside down he cant see much. but when he is the right way up they flop down out of the way. Being a mainly nocturnal fish I imagine that his eye site isn't that good anyway.
  10. I think they charged a $2 entrance fee to the display
  11. I like it I would like it more if the tail of the pleco wasn't cut off
  12. His bristles still havent stopped growing I will have some of his offspring available soon PM me if you are interested
  13. Im saving up to mirror the ceiling like yours
  14. Have you tried cooked mussel meat stella? It is cheap, readily available and contains more goodness than shrimp or prawn.
  15. Surely they are only worth anything if you can get them to spawn and produce viable offspring that have the same traits as the parents. If it was an african cichlid it would be classed as an unwanted hybrid by many breeders and would be put down 8)
  16. I use one of these. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Ki ... 268577.htm I find that they are small, portable, easy to use and very accurate.
  17. That's one of the things that I was talking to Herrie about
  18. Today I went to have a look and to talk to Herrie. I could hardly get a word in as the place was humming and he was run off his feet. As well as gaining new members I am sure that they have encouraged many people to get their first tank. Well done to Herrie and his team
  19. I have never had a problem with parents eating fry. kicking out eggs from the cave yes but eating fry no. My fry get fed the same food as the parents.(salmon pallets, trout pallets, shrimp pallets, algae disks, zucchini) If I'm feeling generous i will give them some decap brine shrimp when they are small.
  20. The best way to tell would be to have a look at the impeller But yes it is likely to be the impeller or an air lock
  21. Well done. Once they start breeding it can hard to get them to stop. If you don't want more fry then you may need to separate them
