  1. I have decided that the best and most reliable way to ID a pleco is to see a pic of it in water and unstressed so im not playing
  2. And it will grow tall if it has the space. This is it in a tank that I no longer have.
  3. If you really want us to help with an ID perhaps you should post a pic of the actual zebra in question and not use a pic from the net
  4. I looks like you have had a mini cycle for some reason which has now probably finished. Have you changed your brand of fish food or your feeding regime ? I wouldn't be worried about a nitrate level of 5.0, my tanks sit between 10 and 20
  5. your tank sucks. why on earth would you use those ugly stones at the bottom? are you so cheap that you couldn't have bought $22 worth of Daltons sand in the first place and done it right to begin with? your plants may be nice, but its your fault for planting them too close together and hiding them. you aquascaping sucks. big plants are meant to be at the back of the tank not in the front. how would you like to be squished in at the glass like your fish are? why not get bigger clumps of plants too? cheap much?
  6. Ahhh the joys of this forum. I just love that in the space of a few short posts how the topic of conversation can go from cooling a fish tank with a fan to surgery on a ferrets bum
  7. Mmmmm Muffins :bounce: Feel free to drop in anytime you are up this way Jen. Especially if you have cake
  8. They are a lot less messy than BN's or plecs but that's probably because they are smaller. They aren't that expensive if you get them from a breeder. I got 10 last year for under $20 each. PM Simian
  9. The red whiptail is L010a Most, if not all whiptails that are available here are south american so prefer soft, slightly acidic water
  10. Thanks for giving them a home for a week Caryl and keeping them all alive See you guys tomorrow. I hope you are not expecting cake. Ive been too busy with water changes to worry about baking
  11. Is it possible the the new bird has mites and it is those that you are allergic to ?
  12. My two seem to spend more time sucking the scum of rocks and logs than they do eating prepared foods. They are much happier now that they are in a larger and have no problem being in with Africans
  13. Last night I was in bed and just about to fall asleep when this little guy jumped on me
  14. That's a good question. I for one don't know. Try it and tell us what happens
  15. I sell hundreds of young BN's and many people have asked me if they will live in cold water. My answer is always no but if your tank never goes below 18 deg in the winter a BN should be fine but will be less active and grow slower. I encourage all these people to buy a small heater for their goldfish tanks and set it to 20 deg, The goldfish and BN's will both be happy at this temp.
  16. Hey-You up the back. Stop throwing jaffas
  17. Geez   It looks like 2010 is going to be the year of the over-reactor
  18. I have just done this in one of my planted tanks, I triple dosed for 5 days with no adverse effects on the fish, It killed all the algae and the plant growth really took off.
  19. Triple dose the label rate of flourish exel
  20. Sorry Chogs I wasn't in the best of moods last night and didn't play nicely. Hows that paekakboyz
