  4. They don't need to. I have learnt that they can self pollinate and produce seeds even if the bud stays under water and never opens. However It would be great to get one to reach the surface so I can see the flower.

  10. My pures are doing well and breeding often. I have kept a good number of LF x GBA fry and LF X albino fry to grow on. I have managed to get my hands on some young LF GBA but they have a heap of growing to do before they are breedable. My latest project is LF x rio ucayali 8)
  11. Thanks for the info guys What depth is your tank dbden?
  12. I just found a flower stalk on my young green Barclaya longifolia I want to encourage the flower but am unsure what to do. The water level is currently 450mm and the tallest leaves are about the same height. Should I lower the water level to increase the chance of the flower reaching the surface and opening? Are these plants self fertile and if so does it need help with pollination and what is the best method of harvesting the seeds? http://www.fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=3598
  13. I use a rubber band and remove it in a few weeks once the roots attach themselves

  16. I keep mine in African tanks as well as south american tanks. The healthiest snails are in the African tanks
  17. I gave mine away not too long ago
  18. Apparently the "old timers" used to put copper coins in their tanks to kill snails. I cant see it working but maybe you could do a trial

  20. One of these. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 441303.htm There are plenty of different brands on trademe. The one in the link is the same as the one I use
  21. If you know you KH and PH you dont need to measure your co2 levels. The chart above gives it to you. As your co2 levels rise your ph drops. How much your PH drops depends on your KH level.
