  6. Snap... I bought the same model camera yesterday too  I'm still learning the best way to drive mine but i am impressed with the results so far.
  7. I emailed the company and this was their reply
  8. Thanks LA The Giant Scare Eye Visual Bird Chaser, the Prowler Owl and the Terror Eyes all look like good options. I will get in contact with them and see which is the most effective against ducks.
  9. I am trying to establish plants and fish in my new pond but every week the fish disappear and the plants get pulled out. I originally thought that it was the neighbours kids but I came home today to find 10 ducks in the pond creating all sorts of havoc. The pond is about 6m x 1.5m with two thirds of it being under the second story deck. I don't want to cover it with netting if I can avoid it. Can anyone suggest any other deterrents that I can use
  10. Risky in what way? killing the parent plant? I have had no runners as yet but I am ever hopeful. perhaps the Leonard Cohen isn't doing the trick A couple of others have suggested that it looks a bit like parvoflourus x leopard
  11. light shouldn't be an issue, it's almost directly under a 250w, 14000K MH lamp. I'm considering taking some rhizome cuttings, any tips?
  12. Alan , I am in the process of switching my fertilizer regime to the same regime that Jen uses. This will no doubt take a few weeks to fine tune but I am willing to bet that the new regime will only alter the growth rate of the plant and perhaps the colour of the leaves. not the size of the leaf and stalk or the compact ,rosette nature of the plant
  13. I have had this plant for approx 2 years. It puts out a new leaf every week but has never grown any bigger. Its is in a high light, co2 injected, tank that has probably been lacking in ferts but having said that all my other Echinodorus in the tank are happy, fast growing and reproducing. It has small green leaves with red speckles. The first pic is of the plant in question and the second pic is of the same plant beside a recently acquired E. Leopard for comparison.
  14. Boys names that are derived from plant names eg Aspen, Sage, Ash / Ashley, Oak / Oakley, Bay (leaf), Reed, Cedar, Linden, Rowan, Forest, Logan (berry), Heath, Basil, Kale Valerian, Burnet, Thorn, Acer, Briar, Florian (obviously from 'flower'), Jacinto (hyacinth), Caraway, Orris, Tarragon
  15. I diffuse my co2 into the intake of my canister filters with great results and zero waste.
  16. Rig Blue cod Snapper I am always scared that the batter will be too hot
  17. Mine is going nuts Its putting up new leaves every few days and the larger leaves are now 600-700mm. The fourth flower spike has just appeared and the first flower pod would now be about the size of my thumb nail. How long did it take your first flower pod to be mature?
  18. I am on night rates for my hot water and the bill is always around $35-$40 per month which is around 10% of my power bill.
  19. The seed pod on the first flower is swelling nicely A second flower has opened and a third is on the way
  20. They look like my Glossolepis incisus They flash different forehead colours at you when its feeding time and when trying to impress the females The males look awesome when in their spawning colours.
  21. Water will always take the path of least resistance so it will be a nightmare to get this to work efficiently in each tank. They are only small tanks, I would just use a sponge filter in each.
  22. How long from pollination to viable seeds ? And what is the best method of harvesting the seeds so I can plant them in another tank. I have read that covering the pod with a stocking to contain the seeds works well. Any ideas ?
