  1. Well considering it is illeagal to shoot birds of flight with a solid round ie a .22 to start with one has to ask a few questions eh Anyway LA there are 599 other birs and it wasnt paired up so whats one less bird that was extinct 50 years ago anyway. Next we'll be paying to preserve snails or spikeing campbell island teal eggs cause even tho theres only a few birds left in teh wild they are really introduced to nZ so we cant have em breed here. But its ok to bring in a cat the size of a small dog cause they only have about 20% of their diet made up of birds an lizards anyway...according to teh CEO of the SPCA. Not that I am bitter or twisted or anything. Navarre

  5. Camels are not my fav. most of that family look me in eye an spit...lol Some say they are good judges of character but I disagree....lol Have had buffs here for about 15 years now...I think..lol Imported from NT and Asia. Some of teh Northlan ones are Italian. There are about 20 sub spieces from memory. Some meat, some beasts of burden, and some milk animals. Must of been hard work LA to get them used to travel etc, tho they tend to be placid unless young at foot. Navarre
  6. There are some here in Christchurch but not our farm. Also have supplie Northlnad and Kaikoura herds. There is a govt herd in Waikato as well. Also in ChCH are Bison and Yak. 7. That head is an asiatic water buffalo and you CAN get them here. I am a partner in the first commerical water buffalo farm etablished in NZ. The calfs are available and for much less than the price you are quoting. Older animals are some times available. There is however a wait list They are much more placid that highland cattle, have a higher kill weight sooner and the hide is superb. Taste nice to. Navarre

  18. So I am wondering if I will be able to hatch my bugs without an incandesent bulb here in good ol Christchurch Winters...any ideas...? And forestry firms will have to pay carbon tax credits if they are felling more than 50 acres of forest and it is not being replanted...hence the slump in the timber market. Better to use it for biofuel than anything else but then what do you build/heat with...and onand on and on...Wood is the ONLY renewable heating resource. Problem is it is high particulate. Navarre
  19. clicker train works and there are more physical methods. you could take teh bitch away adn stand on teh other side of teh fence and evrytime he trys to jump spra him with teh hose or ake a louds frightening sound and say NO or a simular word. DO NOT CHAIN HIM. as a whipet x he will have fine neck bones and if he jumps on a chain may damage his neck. Nuetering may ceratinly help. It does reduce sex drive but may not be the whole solution. Some behaviouralists suggest that it only works in 20% of aggression and about 50% of sex drive incidents. But at least you know if he does get to your bitch then no babies. Also you can spey your bitch. NO heat. No mess. no pymetria etc etc etc. Navarre

  23. Hi there, I havent much experience with this but another option is undertank heater wire. You can hook this up to a digital switchey thing with temp control. Run it under heaps of tanks. It is realitively cheep to install and run (apparently) and reasonable safe. You can have have banks of tanks at different temps so then it still gives indivduality. Other options I have seen are oil heaters. HTH Navarre
