Funny isnt it. That they are an allowed and recognised organism and in that are technically allowed to be brought into the country. Just like the Iguanas and lace monitors and shingle backs etc. But that MAF wont issue permits to bring any in but if they are purchased here then its ok, sorta. Didnt mean to stir things up but .... Also not to hijack this thread I have to say Perpin that they are very very nice photos of very very nice geckos. You can try I guess but good luck. Thats why I was lmao in the first post. I have just applied for a permit to import recognised species and was declined due to the fact that "NO reptile permits will be issued to a private person" so once again good luck. Maybe you could ask one of the Zoo holders to see about bringing your guys in. There are a couple who lurk around here. All the Best Navarre
-
Actually as Leopard Geckos are a recognised organism technically they can be brought into NZ. Of course having a permit to do so issued is another thing...lol. Navarre
-
Hi Perpin, Um You could always bring yours with you (hint hint). I would be happy to look after them till you get here (hint hint) As an allowed species you are supposed to be able to bring them in. Contact MaF in NZ for all the details....Lol ...LMAO HTH Navarre

Yup Redwoods brought some in about 3 years ago. Give Bob a line to see if he will bring some in for you Navarre

Do many/any of you feed them? If you do, do you "smudge" their wings so they dont fly so good? Thanks Navarre
-
Good points you 2. I always thought that I was at my best in the dark. I have since learnt that this isnt always true and that when I did think that apparently the lights were only off cause she hated and I mean HATED to see me enjoy myself. and 2... its not so much hitting you head on the door frame its whacking the back of your head on the floor after hitting the doorframe that really hurts. Whilst going out to lock up the Dogs, I thought...Hmmmm Ill catch some of those flying things to feed the slightery things and learnt.... 1) you can only fit so many flying things in a swirling net before they fly out 2) you can only get so many in a cage before they come back at you 3) that if you hit the light bulb with the swirling net that it breaks real easy 4) that at night with no lights its real dark 5) that after you hit the light and it is dark there is hot glass for africa and 6) that if you put a deep water dish in with your slithery things and live food that before long your silthery things are in the deep dish and cant get out What did you learn?

Ok firstly I have Daltons and sand spare if anyone wants it. Secondly, redo sounds ok but I have to say that when I did mine, tank was very cloudy and there was a bit of a film on surface for a while. So might pay to do tank then filter/settle for a while till tank is ok THEN add fish...or may be good fromm get go. HTH Navarre

I take my hat of to the conch. Well written. And I think I know what you mean. I am 6'2'' tall weigh 120kgs and have played Rugby (as a prop(That goes with out saying I guess)) all my life. I am into hunting and fishing and all that typical Kiwi Male stuff. I also show dogs, keep fish and oh I am a Registered Nurse by trade. Try walking into a room filled with 4 90 year old woman and saying "Hullo darling I'm your Nurse for the day"....then see what reaction you get...lol I have 40% of my body Tattooed and Tattoed well. (about 45-50hours now I guess) I will show anyone who wants to see and sometimes after a few beers after Rugby a few who dont...lol. But I made a decision when I got em that I had to be carefull where and what. Each one has a meaning and is personal. But that doesnt mean they are your cup-o-T either. I dont agree with them being used to mark you culturally ..but they do...and none of will ever change that I have looked after 100 year old men and woman with Tattoos and I have looked after 10year olds with them (medical tats) They all wore them with pride. Some of you have met me and would never know..... I wore em at all. I now work in a multimillon dollar business where first impressions are everything and I am not sure Jobstoppers would do me any favours. I see it that, like evrything ...it is more about the person who wears 'em ( or not) than the the fact that they do...or not Once I catch up with the 20th Century I ll try post um pics...lol Navarre

You can also add an airpump to add movement etc to water to help gas exchange. Insulate bin and if possible put inside cab of truck car etc to help with heat loss as its a more stable temp. hth

Navarre replied to William Payne's topic in Reptiles and Amphibians
Hi All I recently contacted MAF re bringing in reptiles and the still echoing and resounding answer was a NO. Nope. Nada. Dont do that anymore. Well at least I tired. Navarre -
Ok so I have kept fish for a wee while now... Had the range you know and now a few reptiles here and there. But never a killie. Some may say what do you mean Never a Killie and some may say well done. But I was wondering so you have this small ish tank...do you need how much heat? gravel or BBT what do you feed em? Airation/water flow? And then there is spawning the litle blighters..... Any info/Takers on explaining? Navarre

Man those meteors and that tap tap tapping.... are in no way at all as scary as walking into one of those barldy plants after 16 hours on the hill with a decent chamios or Thar on your back and youstill have an hour to get to the hut......worst thing ever.... well nearly...wouldnt wana be the Chamios....lol Navarre
-
Get a second opion excluding teh thread damage of course and get it in writing. BnK if the tank has failed you will be able to visual it still and see why even if tank has thread damage Navarre

When you thing that the residule 1080 n any insect it doesnt kill is enuff to sterilse a Tuatara or a kiwi then it does make a whole lota sense doesnt it. Let see Tuatara in pristine condition has a reproductive cycle that means it lays every 2 years maybe 10 eggs at a time...but only for 20 years or so out of its life span of about 100 years....very simular to Kiwi. Then we go and stop or slow that down even more. Oh you know I shot over 1000 possums last year and a dozen or so deer. Sold skins and meat from all or eat myself...kept friends and family in meat for ages. environmental impact is debateable but negliable compared to arial sprayiing of a posion that some suggest was designed to put in water ways to kill ememy troops but disapate after a few weeks so the "good guys" can then pilage whats left. Know what you mean about the Woodies...spent ages in Arthurs Pass few years ago as have family that live in Otria. Silent bush for 6mths as they had a very dry summer. Not to mention the dogs and horses that have died. Think what it does to our river beds, insects and plants then on up thru the food chain. Navarre

LOL at about recreation...is that why they pollute our water ways and forests with 1080...so we can gain recreational exposure? If we are not carfull shortly the possums that are left will catch TB from our Cows...especially since the largest vector of Bovine TB in New Zealand is the Mustalid and they dont eeat 1080 baits...go figure If it was about the $$$ then they woudl be putting in ground hunters to eradicate those pests as Possum fur is at $105 kilo thats $105000 pr tonne and wool is at what $4000 a tonne. So the simple answer to the question is ...Yes They Are. Navarre
