    Frozen in time

My girl was behaving strange yesterday, breathing fast and being out in the open. Today she was just sitting there... took some pics 1st then prodded her and she was stiff as anything. Interesting to see she is not all clamped up (as i would have expected). Anyway, she was about 12cm long. Was only 1/2 the size when i got her lat year. Wondered if "Dad" had anything to do with this or was it just her time. Dad had her holed up in the cave for 2 days not long ago, until she laid eggs. any hu... rip girl.
  3. Hi, will ask around up this way for you. Does it have to be a hatch tho? or will a tidy sedan do?
  4. 3 days after hatching (when free swimming) feed them liquifry or boiled egg yolk - just a tiny bit. thats about it until theyre bigger and eating crushed flake. Really easy to look after, clean the container theyre in, i chuck mine back in the tub at 1cm in length making sure they have plenty of plants to hide in.
  5. Just to be different ... (and nosey 8) ) what are the fish in the last pic with the black stripe thru them? look kinda cute.
  6. looks good, just wondering tho, how does the water flow between the 3 parts? or is it totally seperate? 3 small hang on filters? or just syphon water change every week or what ever takes your fancy. If only for 1 fighter in each part it wont need heaps of filtration.
  7. Go sockless? leave top button un-done, wear trackies (youre on holiday after all) My fav - get someone to tie your laces then just slip shoes on an off leaving them done up. Laces are very over-rated anyway
  8. Least you have clear silicone... i've got white :-?
  9. I siliconed airline that had been split, then just cut my plastic divider to fit, slotted them in place and filled with water. Can easily be removed to make larger spaces or put back in place.

    Pop eye

I have a female albino glowlight tetra that had popeye. Was stunned when i saw her and did a search on here to find what was wrong/ causing it etc. She also went pale and bloated too. Did an immediate water change, stopped feeding so much and have been doing more regular changes...... she's come right. Wondered if that's why i have an ordinary glowlight male with a missing eye... it popped perhaps? But am keeping a close eye on them now.
  11. Check out MFK in their pond section. Most of the pics are of indoor ponds and fantastic too.
  12. Make sure if youre sending overnight you have decent heatpads that'll last. (ie 40hr) Plastic box sell poly box's for $6 (fish size) pet shop for fish bags or buy them online.
  13. Oh cool, have ordered one but couldnt find any info on the phone part.
  14. hi, probably a silly question but if you get a 2 degrees sim, can you use it in your vodafone mobile? or do you need to get one of their phones? (theyve been advertised)
  15. May not be any use but i think the bubbles in your tank may be creating too much surface current? they are bubble nesters, or maybe some more floating plants?
  16. Thanks Wok, theyre huge compared to my other fry. Have had a good hatch rate too, only lost 1 fry so far. Probably about 25 hatched? about 1/2 anyway, still lots of eggs to go. :bounce: yay.
  17. Might be Phil from Wanganui, he's a member of NZKA.
  18. have 9 fry as of 7pm tonight :bounce:
  19. Small livebearers - guppies, platties, swordtails. a trio can live in a small space and you can either guppy trap them just before dropping or collect them once swimming and put them into a net / trap to have ready for feeding.
  20. ok, thanks all, i'll try just feeding to glowlights 1st.
  21. Brought some frozen shrimp at xmas and never got around to eating it, looks a bit freezer burnt in parts. Is it anygood for fishes? like whizzed up? would i be best to just feed it to the fish in bare-bottomed tanks also?
  22. if you put anything in writing, make sure you get a copy of everything.
  23. After reading up on these - somewhere it said they like to spawn in the roots of floating plants (mop) and seem not to eat their eggs or fry (yeah right) but having not made a mop yet, i put some java moss in weighted with a rock and some floating bits of ambulia. I checked the java moss today and found at least 15-20 eggs. Not risking anything, i've put the moss into my fry grow out part of the tank. Will be watching eagerly. Ps, have 2 bristlenose babies left at 2cm. They must have been too big to eat.
