  1. Is this normal? There's 1 male an 4 females (australe gold) and he's claimed a large cave covered in java moss sited in the corner. if any females come near he flares up and chases them away, then returns to the moss. Wondered if he was just claiming territory as they have only been in the tank a week. It's a moderatley well planted 60ltr with 3 corys as well.
  2. Wishing you both the best of luck, will be watching tonight.
  3. I brought 6 neons from a well known pet store and the very next day all had whitespot, but none died from it. Treated as per insturctions. But they did eventually die off over about 6 months. Was told i probably brought "old stock".
  4. Hey Chris, wow... what a bummer for you. I cant offer any help on the neons dying except i know some fish shops dont have the tank space to quarantine fish before selling so therefore just sell once theyre in their tanks. (I guess they should have warned you they were in the day before) , Also - these cute fish do get whitespot quite easily due to stress of moving tanks etc. The gel blobs are snail eggs. There are quite a few ppl on here that use janola to clean tanks and gear, then i believe they place the tank in the sun. Bit hard with a huge tank, but the sun is good for drying things out. Also if youre worried about the janola, vinegar neutralises it. (then you'll just have a vinegar smell). Good luck.
  5. also depends on what you like too. I have a 30ltr in my sons room and have put 6 White Cloud Mountain Minnows in it... easy to look after, cold water (no heating) small fish (so you can have more) And i put them in the outside tub in the summer for them to multiply. It pays to look around and decide on what you want and can afford. Good luck.
  6. Hi Salmonkid, welcome and i'm sure you'll find a few ppl on here from your area. Good luck with your new tank.
  7. I had no idea all the trouble you can get with these things.
  8. I have no idea what a torrent is. But if it's easy i'll try. Thanks.
  9. Whats a good site to use for downloading music? Must be easy to follow as i'm not that good at this stuff.
  10. I think I see your problem Supasi, there's no car in the shed. What is the world coming to?? Caryl, you too.... no car. I have a couple that I'm going to sell that you could put in there.
  11. Ahhh, no worries. Will keep that in mind for another time
  12. Sandy might be interested, she has a few different ones??
  13. a few australe gold that were at a loose end.
  14. not quite palmy... close tho .. but i have some eggs from Barry waiting until mid august to wet and getting some adults sent down shortly from someone else on here.
  15. never thought of that. Will see what the other one does
  16. I now have a second corydora displaying similar behaviour to the 1st (that i gave to Maui). Diving, flipping, laying on its side. Still eating when i feed them. Just not fast breathing... yet. Dont know what else to do. Everyone else is fine... Did a water change last wk. These two are from the same family and there's one left yet to "change". Any suggestions? Some form of aquarium encephalitis?? (mad fish disease) does this happen??
  17. These are Tuf on the left and Cain laying down. Tuf was chosen because hubby wanted a tuff name, but he doesnt live up to it. typical. Cain was chosen because of the band Danzig... has a cool song 'twist of cain', he's an ozzy. Unfortunatley he died 2 weeks after our daughter was born. Very sad moment for me. We also have a working dog (beardie) called blue, from blues clues. He's an absolute shyte around here chewing things and digging, but great working stock, goes on loan to farmers when they need to rest their dogs etc.
  18. Yeah, she's still young but there are 2 other females that are the same. Just they have a black patch. She is getting a bit of a belly tho, thats why i tought i'd ask. I have a 60ltr grow up tank that i usually put some of the mums in before they birth (away from hungary mouths) so i can put her in there.
  19. This girl was one of the very lucky ones that has been born and survived in my community tank. Thought she might be an albino throwback but has black eyes. Being quite fond of her i check her out closely and have noticed she getting a bit enlarged like she's pregnant. But as you can see she doesnt have a black gravid spot. Is more of an orangey colour with tiny black dots. Could she be infertile? or could it be a possibility that she's going to have the same coloured babies as she is? I have another tank i can put her in.
  20. This is my community hostel. 270ltr, sleeping: 8 Pearl Gouramis Pair of 3 spot gouramis 10 ish Guppies - various 5 adult swordtails + 10ish babies 3 Corydoras (bronze) 3 Small bristlenoses 50 odd red ramshorn snails
  21. I used to carry a spare horse whip on the dash and passengers would hit cyclists on the bum. (Usually ones we knew) Gives them quite a fright too, but funny  Might i say that was about 15yrs ago now. I just blast my airhorns at anyone i feel like nowadays.
  22. WOW, thanks for that MR Pleco. Someone did tell me i would have trouble with them once they started breeding.... ie; not stopping and getting rid of them. Personally i dont have much luck with breeding anything, so i'm not that bothered. I like seeing them on the glass and my daughter gets to 'touch' a "fisssss" (as she calls them) They dont shy away like the corydoras do when you stare for ages
  23. Wasn't intending to breed them as they're brother and sister. But i thought i'd look out for the different sexes and might see if i could swap them if i have one of each sex. They're extremley cute little things.
