Yeah, full contact is going to be the biggest step for me as the production saloons i did race in were (supposed to be) non contact. But i have done quite a few derbys and came second in the last one here, although i did get the stirrers prize :oops:

Saw the cories spawning the other day (sat) so managed to get quite a few eggs from the glass. Now in most cases.. white eggs = infertile = fungus. BUT, these eggs where laid quite white, i collected them in a small container with the tank water, added a drop of meth blue and an airstone. The nucleus [sp?] seemed to grow (in the white egg) yesterday it was bigger again, and today the white part in the egg (only in some, as they were laying all day) has formed a small dark circle almost like an itty bitty eyelash is inside it. IM guessing it's the fry developing?? So what i'm trying to say is.. dont give up on the eggs unless they are really furry with fungus. Will keep informed on what happens.

i've heard of boatmen eating fry as a breeder here fishes them out when he sees them and feeds them to the large g/fish

ummm, yeah. have them for the pony but not for the fish.

Awesome for you, my corys had a field day laying eggs all over the tank today so i have collected most of them and have them in a seperate container floating in the tank. Must have been the weather huh?

how close do i need to get it to the mother ship? it's really growing well. 3 more buds about to open then i'll have a try. And do i need to hold it down? What happens if i snap it?

Why dont you get some fresh stuff from thew river and clean it well? Thay wont be tubifex worms, possibly from overfeeding? They should get syphoned up with a clean i would expect, as you didnt say there was a filter. Anyway, TM has some real great deals on there, starter packages etc.

I have some semi-dark green vinyl left over, would you like a www.etc done for the ute? or something else... Just your parks name?

YUP, too true, just answered a pm with just that. I have no idea why they dont use sea water.... maybe cause wanganui water is terrrible?? The river is brown today.

probably not that much, but if can get a good deal??? :lol: He's using (atm) crystal sea but usually uses stuff in a black bag (cant remember the name..... always helpful) says it's better, comes in about 7-8kg?? goes thru a bag every 3 wks and another friend goes thru a bag every 2 wks. Theyre hoping to source either a larger amount or alternative thats still good quality. If that makes sense. I also forgot to ask how much theyre paying for it. But i know theyre finding it hard to get the stuff. Seems like a common prob perhaps??

a couple of pics of the top stem of the sword plant i have. the sword: the start of the stem: progress: not too sure how / where to break it off, or if i do? no flowers yet, the buds just seem to be leaves and a new one opens every 2-3 days. roots are growing fast tho.

Hard one to say how many ltrs an "average" tub is. Best just to measure your one, L x H x W to get volume.

hey tommy, make sure you have a tank lid of some sort too so the air above the water is warm for when the littlies have a breath. Some ppl put things in the tank for them to build the nest against or under, like the lid of a cup. They may just need a bit of tlc 1st too. good luck.

I have decided to put my large female cory into a smaller seperate tank to condition her seperateley. They have previously spawned in the comm tank after water changes, with most of the eggs getting eaten before i can get them. How long do ppl usually leave there girl in there for?(before introducing the boys) should i be feeding her 3 x a day? (sml bits and worms etc) When introducing the boys, should i put them in then do the water change? or do i leave them for a bit 1st. has anyone tried the ice cubes? (putting them in before dark)
