    Some photos

Looks awesome PP. Great growth and colour
  2. That was Filmed at Mahurangi campsite. The turnoff for it (Sullivans Bay) is on the right, just after the turnoff for Puhoi. Cheers, David
  3. You talking about egg-layers right? I would say that they can be classed as a breeding pair if eggs hatched but the fry were eaten, but I would be careful when labelling a pair as a breeding pair if you haven't see the fry, especially if the eggs have been infertile.
  4. I have always loved amazon biotopes, particularly Blackwater Creeks. These creeks are Acidic (PH 5.5-6.5), and are generally devoid of plants and Rocks, and the substrate is usually clay based with an organic mulm coating. They are normally bordered by semi-aquatic plants which are generally submerged several times a year. Of course there are also other Amazonian biotopes (Whitewater Rivers, Clearwater Streams, Oxbow lakes, to name a few). Here are some inspirational pictures:
  5. Haha my Cousins are in the Herald on A3, in a article about NCEA results
  6. Read http://www.proteinskimmer.com/EV180.pdf Page 5 I think will explain it all
  7. No. The water level has to be below the gate valve
  8. The Remora is the HOB model though aye Wasp. The EV180 is here Oh and If you wanted to Skim wet Gannet, you could switch the Eheim 1260 for a Mag7, but when you are getting the Skimmer plus the 1260 for $300 I wouldn't complain
  9. Seahorses are not in that tank- Livingart has 2 temperate marine tanks plus the ponds
  10. what pump were you running the Skimmer with wasp? when i was using it, i was using a 1060 and I never found it erratic? I found it much harder to skim wet than dry with it too...
  11. pends on the number of fish or whatever you add
  12. You forgot the flounder Livingart! Or is that gone?
  13. Get NZ bred and you should be fine
  14. I provide animal displays for the box-makers and box-fillers to take their children too on the weekend to keep them amused
  15. Which island? On the main Island (Upolo) best place to stay is Lolomanau which has ok snorkelling. The other good place to stay is Virgin Cove, which is a nice eco-village but doen't really have snorkelling. On Savaii, the best snorkelling is Manase Beach, talk to Fabian at the dive shop there, and he will take you out on his boat to the best spots. I haven't been diving at Samoa yet (I am going to go do my PADI there in July) but I have done quite a bit of snorkelling. Hope that helps- David.
  16. They won't cause any problems, and will probably be a benefit to your tank overall. If you do want to catch some, the best way would be to put a filter sponge thingy in your tank somewhere for a week or 2. Most people put them in their sumps but you don't have one. Make sure the sponge is quite wiry as opposed to woolly so the pods can get into it.
  17. there is a tank at each end. They would be fed in these tanks
  18. Wet-dry filters allow more oxygen and thus more bacteria in the bio-filtration. i don't know why you think they are important for Marine tanks though... Most marine tanks these days use efficient protein skimming and live rock for 'filtration'. Of course you can get away with Wet-dry's on FO tanks, but its still not a good idea
  19. Happy new Year everyone
  20. yes but the Mandarins don't swim in the Sumps Wilson
  21. you would need more that $3000 to make it into a reef tank... You would be looking at $10,000 if you wanted a full on reef that size, taking into account the fact that you would need 3x 400W lights, a decent sized skimmer, a Calcium reactor, plus the sheer cost of corals and fish to fill a tank like this... Of course it would be cheaper if you wanted to make it a softies/LPS tank as you could get away without a calcium reactor or the 400W lights.
