  1. didn't you have an anenome before, nemines? White with blue tips?
  2. ...but you won't get the glitter effects metal halides give you
  3. I am running a couple of these on my reef at the moment, and they work well, even at 2ft water depth, provided you put SPS corals in the top 1/2... (Well I have one, awaiting the second-not from same seller) Auction number 137148305
  4. You might as well get one with decent reflectors too... A hanging kit like Trademe Auction 137757263 is probably the neatest and best bang for your buck, and double end halide bulbs are generally cheaper than single end ones
  5. You don't need Metal Halides for a FO tank, its a waste of power. T8's will be fine.
  6. 600 Watts is a bit excessive isn't it... It won't be the right Kelvin and you will be hard pushed to find replacement bulbs. Also, over a 4ft tank you would be better getting 2x 250W lights- (this is assuming you want a SPS reef) as 2x lights will give you better spread. T5 will cost alot less to run, as will 2x 150W or 2x250W, and they will be cheaper to replace bulbs for also. So short answer, no, I wouldn't get it.
  7. I'm guessing HE is a SHE?

they in your tank reef? The Christmas tree worms look really nice!
  9. $250 a month for me I think (in Winter) Most goes into my Reef tank
  10. Can't make it sorry- will be at Little Barrier doing some stuff for DoC
  11. ...Yes, Oscarboy is a perfect example that Stars mean nothing... He has posted nothing of any worth for the last two thousand threehundred and um... I suppose fourty-one of his posts
  12. Awww Cutie. Nice to see the one I babysat is doing well- Very cute!
  13. Don't start an argument! Black hides algae better, Blue looks more natural! With any lick it will be pink after a while Anyhow
  14. u mean how many posts you have done? It says on the left below your name
  15. Read my other post which I posted under your post about wanting Seahorses. Start with one tank and do it right rather than getting a reef tank, a seahorse tank, turtles, tropical fish and lizards all at the same time. If you need some help you are welcome to give me a ring or come around and see my setups... But ask lots of questions and read some relevant literature, otherwise you're sailing blindfolded.
  16. You seem to be wanting to start many projects all at once. No offense meant but why don't you do one and do it right and then move on to the next thing if you still want to... Start by reading some stuff! Read on here (there is another good NZ aquarium site dedicated to Marine Aquariums). Read the Marine aquarium starter guide too (At the top of the Saltwater Page)... and If you are keen on finding out about seahorses there are lots of posts on here. It is probably easiest to start with Tropical Seahorses such as Kuda's rather than coldwater horses
  17. Does it involve a large (800gallon) deep (1 meter from water surface to the bottom) tank Which is a mixed reef dominated by ginormous rare Acros, and with an artificial base through which detritus falls and is swept through a passage to a large lagoonal system (900 gal.) Which is like a small pond/touch pool (with heaps of Mangroves, a seagrass bed, Massive Conches, Thousands of Cowries and at least 20 of Cataphyllia? Then the water from the Lagoonal Pond is pumped back into the Reef system, via a sump system featuring a montorous DIY Skimmer and some other super cool inventions which haven't been invented yet... Because if that is your plan, you are just a copy, coz thats what I'm going to do!!!!

Looks good. Love the Betta! I think the Fish you have listed as a bolivian butterfly Ram is actually a Kribensis, but I can't see too well as its a bit blurry
  20. I haven't really seen any small yellow tangs for sale (the smallest being about 7cm nose to tail), but some of those blue tangs which have been coming in have been about 3 cm long.... I wouldn't even put a 7cm tang in a 2ft tank, even if that was its fully grown size as they need alot of space to swim being pelagic, column feeding fish...
  21. It is actually an albino form Caryl- Not all albino animals are completely white. (it does have red eyes though)
  22. have you guys seen the gold neons tetras (albino neon tetras)?
