  2. I've been givin the go ahead... i think its a trap...
  3. going. not gonna miss rage. now if only i can come up with a worthy excuse to miss out on my partners sisters wedding on the weekend of rock to wellington...
  4. 2 Pitbull/Amstaffs - Ziggy & Shelby Fish, hermit crabs n corals.
  5. Thats strange. most of the puppies I've come across are still drinking from mum at that age. oh well. lol sounds like they got all they needed We also got our pitty puppy at 4 weeks. we only worked out the math from when she came into season. we thought she was already 3 months when we got her.
  6. Kinda agree, but would have to pick a closer breed, American Pitbull Terrier. All of the above traits, as well as determined... Great working dogs, with a pain threshold 2nd to none. Afterall they were bred for bullbaiting, NOT fighting. AmStaffs do hold their merit tho. That is true. Breeders let their dogs go at 3 months from memory. That way the pups have had proper milk since they were born. As for a place to sell puppies, can try T&E online, Trademe, Sellmefree, to name a few online places. another good spot to list them would be http://www.petsonthenet.co.nz/ads/index.php, also http://www.adpost.com/nz/pet_dogs_cats_puppies_kittens/. hope these help you. Could always try a farm forum or something... there should be some for new zealand.
  7. FOWLR tank only needs enough light to see the occupants from what I've read, as you don't have any photosynthetic inhabitants. of course that would change the moment you look at adding certain corals for aesthetics etc. If you're looking at adding an anemone for that school of clowns you were thinking of getting, having a MH light on one side of the tank would would work . cover any powerheads if you have them though
  8. well that doesn't leave much time, does it?
  9. i'd say for. now there will be all those partypill-heads looking for a high, which can only be re-enacted by either: A) alot of enerygy drinks. B) another legal form for the high. or C) the real (or more powerful) drugs that the partypills were made as a legal substitute for. i doubt that alot of the partypill takers out there have any experience when dealing with the real thing, that there could be some overdose cases in the very near future. and just because a ban on BZP comes into affect, it doesn't mean the manufacturers here will just sit down and stop trying. they will try to find a legal loophole in which they can bring out another alternative for the gap in the market since there will be no competition. hmmmm thats kinda got me thinking jus joking
  10. very close evil. but you do not need a relay or pump for this sort of auto-topup. it just runs off gravity from memory with the top-up/kalk water in a container feeding down a hose into the float. good call tho. The maxijet powerhead (far right pump) is also used on seaclone skimmers. good powerhead for testing small DIY protein skimmers too. just a bit of useless info i'd share with ya  Good on ya Davidb for offering help
  11. try the site... www.somethingfishy.co.nz or look at engineering supply shops that stock coolant lines etc. there's loc-line or Snap-loc. have used both in my last engineering job, and both are good so the choice is up to you.
  12. Yeah thats what i heard as well while browsing various sites. how much of a boost in the spectrum will it create tho? sorry for thread hijacking
  13. according to the electrician that organised my halides, it is possible to run smaller bulbs. although he did say that it would shorten their life expectancy.
  14. there is a nanotank fish compatibility thread on nanoreef.com and nanotank.com. both good sites but like everyone is saying, 20L is pretty small.
  15. my grandmother has used those sleeping rolls they use for camping for awhile. not sure on anything bigger then a 3ft tank tho. it seems way to soft to me but it works for her tank
  16. with a river tank, try hillstream loaches. they look awesome and there is someone on this forum that has bred them successfully. or you could always try convicts
  17. setting up a nano could be done to a budget... but as reef has said, it'll be really hard to keep parameters within spec. it has been done before, but only rare cases have been successful. my advice would be to research everything you would like in it, then start collecting all the running gear now for a massive tank ie. the best skimmer you can get (don't skimp on this one, get one that is rated for a much larger tank), lighting, auto-topoff (not a necessity but highly recommended), powerheads, RODI filter for ASW or a storage container and collection containers for NSW etc. When you have all the gear it would make a tank upgrade so much easier as if you have gone all out on the gear, most of it can be moved to the new tank. If you really want to do this nano however, look at getting a decent sized sump tank set-up. it will add to water capacity and make it easier to keep parameters. you will be restricted to what you can keep in it tho, so do alot of research on the inhabitants, and then research a whole lot more. sounds like alot of work but welcome to marines.
  18. cheers Caryl We got ours yesterday :bounce:
  19. you checked the filter. but did you check the hose? it might be blocked
  20. i think the 70w would work a treat. lol Is this "nano" as in "nano-reef" or "nano-tropical-planted"? If "nano-reef" definitely the 70w 8) (any fish will need shades or something  )
