Have to agree on the BF3 graphics, but its the same for both the ps3 and 360. They don't have the graphic processing power which is a shame. But other then that, I'm still cranking Rfactor or COD4 on Steam and COD2 for the sniper servers only. Or I'm on the PS3 playing GT5 or BC2. I was over the whole black-ops experience within the 1st 4 weeks. How'd you find that "Sniper: Ghost Warrior" Wok? Its not too shabby I thought. Still prefer the Sniper Elite though. Old game I know but it's still fun

Thats fine, and its about time they have started doing that. But the harbour doesn't flush well enough due to all the rivers feeding into the harbour. If you look over google maps and count how many rivers feed the harbour you will see why everyone chooses Taka boat ramp. Taka is tried and true, not to mention its far closer to open sea then the harbour is. The further away from harbours and rivers you get the better the water quality gets which is what we want for reef aquriums. Best way to check the water quality would be to use every Hanna meter you can think of, and compare the results. I don't think many NSW using Auckland reefers would risk hundreds to thousands of dollars of livestock, because they think the harbour is safe to use.

Yes they do. But would you eat any shellfish from within the harbour? This isn't jab or anything, I'm just trying to get a point across. When it comes to reef tanks the smallest contaminant can wipe a tank out.

With how many contaminants in Auckland harbour, I wouldn't risk it. If you ever get a chance go down by the motorway before the bridge and check the mangrove area. That alone will make you think twice about collecting in the harbour. I used to collect from Takapuna boat ramp myself with a bilge pump (got sick of wading out down the boat ramp to get it in winter).

They do look look like red bubble algae. Maybe botryocladia perhaps. How long has it been growing in the tank?

Your nano looks great! Is there any reason why you want to switch up to LED? If you were wanting to start looking at stocking acros or other light intensive corals then so be it, but if you just wanted to stock softies then what you have is fine. Also have you looked at BSLEDs? I picked up a 90w unit for my 60l nano and the lighting improvement is insane.

Refractometer is similar to a hydrometer as in a way to measure the salinity. Highly accurate provided it is calibrated correctly. Great to have when starting to have corals and equaling the salinity in replacement water for water changes. IMO I wouldn't even look at using a hydrometer now.

I thought silicone doesn't stick to acrylic? Not in the way it sticks to glass anyway.

Could always do the Rainbows End thing in Manukau if you haven't tried it yet. lol Purely depends on what you are into really. If you want, I'm sure there is a bus that will take you past the Botanical Gardens in Manurewa, from Manukau City as well.

could always opt for a dog sleeping in the car. Pit bull should scare off most burglars, but if it came to crunch and they did get in, the dog will prolly lick them to death instead of mauling. :lol: also there are those window-shatter hammers with the point that will shatter a window without much noise. They use them in emergencies on buses. I know cos I tested the theory on one of my old cars. only did it cos I had a spare window, and was pretty bored that day.

Best bet would be to tell us how many litres you have and whether or not you have a sump. And if you have a sump, how much room do you have to work with. As you already know there are HOB, internal, and external skimmers. Letting us know the above info will help us decide which skimmer to keep an eye out for.

Gets pretty expensive having to replace the big colorbits containers every time. Other then that 1 of them used to swallow lamb chop bones (big or small it didn't matter) whole without chewing. My mind boggles at how it made it back out... :lol:

They can tolerate in both. I just did a google seach, and it is said (according to wikipedia) that they will live longer in a brackish tank. This is the page here.

1. NSW (natural seawater) and watered down with RO water would be better over using tapwater. Although you can use a saltmix if necessary. 2. I really wouldn't bother with one of these as they are usually very inaccurate. 3. This site should help you with stocking you're tank

Just about every salty knows (those that run sumps anyway :lol: ). Always compensate for "water in the piping" when building a sump. As Suphew pointed out having to replace saltwater everytime the tank shuts down is a pain in the backside and depending on your set-up, could cost a bit. Plan for your sump to hold more then what is in the plumbing though. You will never know when you might need the extra volume. Oh and another tip. Mark the side of the sump when the sump in operation,and when the pump is off. That way you know exactly how much water to put back into the tank, without having to run the tank then kill the power and wait for a flood if you overfilled.

You could try a 3mm drilled sheet of perspex/acrylic. To wedge it in place just cut a slit along a piece of airline and slip it onto the outside edge of the sheet. Or you can cut a square out of the middle and glue the flyscreen onto it like a frame.
