  1. Heya.... I have been offered the chance to have a small axolotl and would love to take it but need to get some starting out info as I have never had one before.... Wat substrate to you use? Anyone in the hamilton area know if the water is chlorinated? How often do the need feeding? Other than bloodworms what else can they eat? Do they like plants in their tanks or are they better kept bare? Do they like to hide in dark spots when sleeping or at other times? How long can they be kept out of water? Do they like to have areas out of water or are they like fish where they are always submerged? Do they like different levels of water or should it all be the same depth? ok lots of questions - looking forward to ur replies.....
  2. so sorry to hear about this - I heard about your parrot last weekend and how cool and wonderful he was and how he sat all day on Grants shoulder. My thoughts are with you and can so understand the feelings he must be going thru right now. Hugs to you both
  3. ok, well its no longer swimming, last i saw it was lying on the gravel (still upside down)....not sure what to do here...so no one has any thoughts as to what it mite be, how to help it etc????
  4. I have just noticed a fish in our tank swimming upside down - literally swimming. It a Krib and today a large water change was down... other than that I dont know what else to write - usually we just find the fish already passed... Ideas?
  5. couldnt make it this month as had a team work dinner to go to - which other than the company was a waste of time - shoulda just come to the fishy get together
  6. will try and remember this is on - i have added to my cellphone calendar so who knows lol
  7. i have to say i do prefer my turn dial machines as they last so much longer than the computer ones....i bought my washer over 10 years ago now and it still runs strong, has been used by a single person as well as upto four adults in a household at once so im impressed....sorry yours died but its fun getting new stuff too (despite the reason for having to lol)
  8. i too recently had my car broken into - monday before waitangi weekend....my language and the description of what i was gonna do to the sod if I ever found him was not very lady like lol.... the police came round to get finger prints which the stupid ppl left but i am a very neglectful car owner and they reckon it was too dirty to get prints off....oh well they stole my car stereo and the whole center console that has the fan grills, the buttons for my back window heater and the hazard lights, the ashtray holder. (go figure) oh and the little first aid kit that was in the glove box. i have replaced most of it by going to the wreckers...wat i suddenly remembered about tho that nite was in the car were two cd cases full of all my cds but cos i have a habit of chucking everything under the passenger seat they didnt take them phew...also my bag with my wallet, cellphone etc was also in the car - not touched. my week didnt get much better after that as i took the Thursday off for an extra long weekend (dont work Wednesdays) and on that thursday as i headed home from the supermarket i got side swipped totally stuffing the car....they broke the back axle, smashed in the drivers side so that i actually had to get out the passenger side. brilliant!!!! I was driving dads car cos mine had no indicators due to the break-in and in his car i have to pull the seat forward cos its longer in the front than mine and i think thats wat saved me from being seriously hurt....hit my head, got a little bit of whip lash and ribs on right side hurt from hitting the door panel....oh and bruising above the left breast where the seat belt would have tightened.... apparently the car spun twice before stopping wiht me facing the wrong way up moorehouse ave towards the overbridge (i was heading away from it....)
