  1. I'd say that alot of egg laying fish do firenzenz. Uarus sure could, and i had two fem angels that did, ages ago
  2. Not realy, i wrote a bit of an article about planted tanks (link in my signature) but i dont think i realy went into light details very much Have a read of it anyway
  3. Ditto. Ant you have seen my 'blackwater biotope' tank pic, do something similiar to that! Theres even a couple good links in that thread too i think.
  4. FFS, Ira knows what i meant, but you wouldnt have a clue Why do i try
  5. What temp have you got them in? I find that at about 23 degrees i am getting more fems than males, but others have found that at higher temps it shifts towards more males. Try changing the temp a little bit in the tank, and see what happens
  6. Photo makes it look funny. Its a pretty cool tank in person! P.S. 1000 posts mark! man you talk alot
  7. haha, bet they wont be with you long though  Wish i was going, but alas, too poor
  8. More like 8 x 3 x 2 in the long run Oh, and welcome!
  9. Keep in touch doooood, may be keen on some young
  10. Disease. Alot of the rams that come into the country just fade away and die, as do the dwarf gouramis
  11. Blue rams are just as bad as dwarf gouramis!
  12. No silly, you lay the carpet in the box makers houses!
  13. Not always true in a planted tank, infact plants need nitrate to grow. You want your Nitrates to be around 10 in a planted tank (ideally) but anywhere close is generally alright. Also, frozen foods (usually) contain very high amounts of phosphates (which will be feeding your algae beautifully) so you should rinse them all under freshwater first
  14. No, dont even bother with a tang. It will grow too fast for your tank, and will not be happy in a sort amount of time.
  15. Theres GBAs, which are golden with black eyes, and the red eyed ones are called Albino bristlenoses. The albino ones are not as common as GBA's, and are worth more.
  16. Its is both. Theres no difference between the two; some say golden blackeyed ancistrus, some say golden bristlenosed ancistrus
  17. So have you been able to get any Aviverm (levamisole) or would you like me to try and get you some?
  18. What size is your tank, what lighting do you have, how long are the lights on for each day, what plants do you have and what fertilisers do you dose? Answer those questions and we will be able to give you a reason why it is green, and how to fix it
  19. NO! Score it on one side only, and only score it once. Give it a fast, hard snap over the end of a table or something similiar. Practice makes perfect

    Chlorine

I was just reading an article on aquarticles, about spawning annual killies and it said that once you take the peat out (after spawning) that you should rinse it under chlorinated water Anyone heard of doing that before? sounds dodgy to me...... http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/bre ... wning.html
  21. Nice tank, nice fish and nice photos! As ryan said, bring on the discus! This is going to turn out to be an AWESOME tank Adodge, and i bet you're very happy with it!
  22. Ohk, i'v never heard of doing it that way, but id say that it would still not be quick and efficient as doing it one of the ways i said. Wait for others opinions before you do anything though
  23. Sticking a tropical fish in the freezer is cruel, and should not be done. Put it in a plastic bag, and give it one hard hit on the concrete or something outside, to kill it instantly. That or stick a sharp knife or something through into its brain. You want to kill it as quickly as possible, so it doesn't suffer, as it would if you put it into the freezer HTH
