  1. Ohk sweet. Thanks guys. We pulled a whole heap of it from Alan.W's tanks yesterday when we started doing a clean up. I think that there will be alot of it for sale soonish
  2. Drop tank level to at least halfway ASAP! It is very dodgy, and if you keep it full it will burst. Its not a small tank to be mucking around with either. I broke the center brace in my 250L tank, and it bowed out about 5mm (10mm glass) I dropped the water level, pulled it back into shape with a clamp and glued a new brace on. A couple weeks later i found that the bottom seam had popped out aswell, obviously from when it popped at the top. I ended up stripping the tank down to 5 bits of glass, and putting it back together fresh.
  3. Is it Val? I want to be 100% sure. May be a saggitaria of some sort?
  4. Ron or Sharn. When you make up a stock solution, then whats the ratio that you use to make up a solution for plants? just pour it in until its the right colour?
  5. grr I want one  Can i have one mark? Or two? would happily take two off your hands.... i know how much hassle they are for you
  6. A good site about blackwater biotopes http://www.planetcatfish.com/shanesworl ... cle_id=177 It seems that i was partially wrong. Theres two parts to a blackwater stream/river. The river bank which is sandy, mulmy, full of roots/wood etc, and the centre of the river/stream which has heaps of stones and rocks and large boulders Another cool link http://apisto.bravepages.com/AMAZONIAN% ... rticle.htm
  7. Couple pics i found on the net that show a couple blackwater streams
  8. Discus would probably work. You'd have to up the temp though. In your other post up further i think you may be talking about pantadon butterflys? They are a top dwelling that eat mainly live food. they have real cool finnage and are quite easy to sex i believe. Google will give you a pic and tell you about finnage as i have never kept one.
  9. I just google searched blackwater biotope and looked through about 15 different pages. I was mainly looking for underwater pictures, but there is alot of awesome infomation out there. The link that Davidb put just above here is a great one
  10. Does Boris reside at your place of living now?
  11. What size tank are they in?? (be honest)
  12. Once a day is enough. For a small amount of fish you only need to feed a small amount. people say that you should feed them the right amount so that there is nothing left after 2 minutes
  13. PM's sit in the outbox until the person you are sending them too receives it (ie comes online). once they have read it, it then moves to your sentbox
  14. mmm nigs are very nice fish. pity they don't show up in photos very well. I've got eggs of nigs too. due to be wet on boxing day  I will be waiting another month or two before i hatch them though, as they require a little more than three months when stored a little colder.
  15. Sounds cool. now we just need some pics Oh, and i'd keep watching them for another couple weeks. you can never be too sure with Jars
  16. Yea Rachovii are by far my favourite killie, followed closely by the nigs and eggersi. I started out only wanting to do non-annuals, but the shear beauty of the annuals, plus the satisfaction of having them breed in the peat pot, waiting that 3+ months then hatching them out from the 'dirt' as barrie said, is just amazing. Don't get me wrong, i realy like the striatum - they have awesome colours and i will always keep my trio, but i'd prefer some eggersi, nigrippinnis, rachovii, palmqvisti or fuscos anyday 8) Tim said to me the other day that rachovii have a 6 month incubation period.... Man will that be a long wait for me!
  17. Nah, i'll still talk to ya.... I will just have to buy some more dems before i do though
  18. Yea she ended up surviving. I have noticed know that they sort of go pale and then darken up depending on what they feel like  I don't think mine was pale because of a problem

    help

Temp could be a couple degrees lower for guppys. not crucial though. Sounds like theres something wrong with the water. How long has the tank been setup? what size is it? what kind of filtration does it have? how often do you do water changes? If you 'might be but dunno' if you are over-feeding then yes you probably are. with 6 small fish, feed them a pinch of flake food daily. that is all they will need. Oh and get some test kits, or take a sample of your water to the pet shop to get tested.
  20. Yep a good starters package of killies there i hope you have alot of spare tanks though. Oh yea baby! Im sick of them silly non-annuals
  21. Even if your stand is better than the crappy weetbix stand they make, aparently in the warranty for the tanks you cannot get it unless they are on the factory stand. Just what i have been told/read/heard so there is a slight chance i may be wrong
