  1. I would suggest columnaris (also called saddleback). If you treat for that and nothing happens it will be the virus and you are no worse off.
  2. There was a shop down here that told me they used that to cure cyano and I tried it and it works. I used eurethromycen once and lost a lot of fish---probably killed the bugs in the filter. I have used it on other occasions without problems. Prescription only is the problem with E.
  3. Two buckets the first time and because it is a bit slow 6 buckets the second time. Still working on the third time. Went running straight home so I hope the owner got the idea as well.
  4. Regardless of all that can a cat lover please explain why their cat has the right to come on to my property and annoy, scare and try to kill my pets that are legally and properly contained on my property. That is of course before they defecate all over my veggy garden and contaminate my food with the diseases that they carry. We get regularly visited by 6 cats that live in the area.
  5. It really anoys me that the national government changed the legislation to allow cats in food premises and no government since has had the guts to ban them as they should have. If people want to have their pussies dirty backside all over their food preparation areas I guess that is their right but I think a member of the public paying for food in a registered public food premises should be entitled to know that the food was prepared on a surface not contaminated by a cat's anus.
  6. There is a hedghog flea but I understand the NZ ones are free of it.
  7. The carbonate will raise the pH but the calcium will raise the hardness. Is that likely to be a problem. An automatic water change would be best I think (if the tap water is the pH that you want.)
  8. Don't feed infusoria until they are free swimming---they don't feed until then.
  9. Puting chips in cats would have the same problem as in dogs. You have to catch them before you can read the chip. It is the free roaming 6 cats in my area that anoy me not people who keep their cats at home. There are new breeds of cats being imported which are real hunters and god help the wildlife if they start roaming or becoming ferile
  10. The live one was the same but came through. I incubated for males and they hatched in 49 and 51 days. I have incubated for females and had them hatch in 40 days and be OK. I kept it on moist vermiculite for 3 days but no luck---win some/lose some. Thanks for your comments. Just sad because it would have been a stunner. The paterning would have given longitudinal black lines like the previous one I posted.
  11. I hope it wasn't someones pet rabbit. My sister lived for a while at Taylors mistake and had two burmese cats that used to bring home rabbits every few days caught in the hills behind their house. They would have carried mature rabbits for over a killometre.
  12. Cats are killers--end of story. I have never met a cat that was a pacifist ,vegetarian or vegan.
  13. Doc are desperately trying to save lizards in Otago that have just about been wiped out by ferile cats. When cats are killed it is found that they are living almost exclusivly on lizards and the only lizards in the south Island are natives. Cats are killers, just like dogs that were bred for fighting. I don't mind people having cats if they are properly contained.
  14. Supply and demand. Leopard geckos were $1500 each a few years ago now on trdeme for $200--thats life.
  15. In a previous life I have had to deal with pussie lovers with 20-30 ferile cats that were full of disease because they loved the wee darlings and fed them and let them breed but could not look after one cat properly.I think cat doors should be a criminal offence and cats should either be kept in the house or in secure cages outside like tigers because they are only small tigers with the same instincts. Trust me, I have been attacked by ferile cats and they can and do carry some pretty nasty diseases.
  16. My father absolutely hated cats and killed any cat that came onto the property because a ferile cat nearly killed my young sister in a cot by sleeping on her face because it was warm. I just trap them and give them two buckets of water before sending them home. I can't see why someone else's pet should be able to come onto my property and worry or kill my pets. If a dog did it there would be hell to pay and I would not keep pets that annoy the neighbours or wander on to other people's properties so why should they.
  17. I have had it a couple of times before but never lost any previuosly.
  18. Ya win some---ya lose some. These two were siblings that hatched with a bit of the yolk sac hanging. The first made it and the second was dead this morning.
  19. Don't look up in case they flush the bog.
  20. That is why they usually only do the front.
  21. There is a shop down here that makes them to order. Usually with low iron and polished front only because of the expense. They use black silicone and make a very neat job as well. They make recycled rimu stands and lids as well---very nice overall. Pictures of Jennifer's tank will give the idea.
