  1. You build and keep them in a cage or get rid of the cat door and keep them in the house. If you can't I can supply you with a lizard.
  2. The yellow comes and goes. It is a lot less yellow in reality. same male, different female. Might have to keep those two and see what the markings come out like.
  3. The unusual thing about Brisy (where my brother is) they were flooded but had water restrictions because the water supply comes from an area where it does not rain much.
  4. Eddie Himsel died a few years back and daughter Heidi and husband Cameron have taken over Pet world from Karla.
  5. No councils in NZ use chloramine. They are required by the Dep of Health to use chlorine. Chloramine is a biproduct of using chlorine.
  6. I have not used that system for fry---I used it for fighters---whatever works for you.
  7. Welcome and enjoy your time here.
  8. Some people try to avoid responsibility for their own actions by saying everything is somebody elses fault.
  9. It is not a bill but a bylaw. CCC has got rid of most bylaws and now uses the RMA. There are sections in there about loss of amenities and the fines are a lot more realistic than bylaws or section 29 Health Act.
  10. Surely you don't need the government to tell that you or your pets have no right to excrete all over other peoples property---that is just common sense.
  11. They are basically all calcium carbonate so I guess best to use what is most convenient for you.
  12. What is the purpose of the tank in the last pic? It is not like I set up my fish house but people can do what works for them in a private setup. Quarantine is a different ball game---someone elses rules.
  13. Hatched in 38 days and no yolk sac. Incubated for males---no rhyme nor reason
  14. When the council chlorinated the water supply during the quakes I used sodium thiosulphate xtals that cost me $10/kg
  15. That is what a responsible cat owner would do. If you don't wish to do that---don't keep a cat.
  16. Listening to a bell tinkling while my lettuces are defecated on does not make me feel any better. Why should I have to cover my garden to stop your cat crapping on it. I am very tolerant ---I have not shot one cat yet.
  17. There are a limited number of animals that crap in their their own back yard if given the choice. have you ever wondered why you see people walking dogs and carrying plastic bags. They are known to some as responsible dog owners. They have learned that it is not a nice thing to have their pet crap on other peoples gardens or on public space.
  18. If you seive the bran and use the stuff that goes through the seive (the rest for your locusts) and you start a new draw each few weeks you make life simple. When you see movement in the bran you put it all through the seive and you have worms only. You then have small, medium and large worms. Don't forget to have a setup to keep replacing your beetles or you will end up with them all dying at the same time. If you have a whole mix of different sized worms you put the worms only in a seive and the small ones will fall through. I use seives from the wharehouse which are actually for keepng the flies off cakes and the worms can't climb out because of the metal ring around the edge. It fits neetly over a bucket that I have.
  19. Best to move the beetles on every couple of weeks I think. Some people just have the whole lot together and that works too but if you move them on the mealies seem to be about the same size. I think the main think is to give them warmth and moisture by way of carrot, apple or spuds, otherwise they eat the eggs and the crysalis.
  20. You are on topic. If you let a cat wander the neighbourhood it will use neutral territory as a toilet. We have no cat or dog so we get about 6 cats doing the same thing and it is going to stop one way or another. My pets don't deseve to be tormented by them or my veggy garden used as a cat toilet along with the diseases that go with that. I have nothing against cats if the are confined to the owners property. If they can't do that then they should not have a cat.
  21. Probably not what the cat wanted either. It had been trained by its thick selfish owner to use my veggy garden as a toilet so now I have to train it. I don't think it would understand pretty please or thankyou.
