There should be heaps around of OOA Fryeri as ive sold plenty around the LFS in Akld about 6-8 months ago

Hi as said check water condition first and add sea salt. It wont hurt them and might kill off any nasties

Those are goods points Debbie and so true. My Brother who imports Marine fish has the same problems so I know where you are coming from. Its just that We (cichlid lovers ) just adore these little creatures so much that we expect Importers to bring in everything or anything we desire.

Dont you find the fish still scatch? And yes even in our drinking water there are still heavy metals lurking around. It might not harm us (well i hope not) but since the fish pass it thru their gills it does effect them. I considered a water filter but they just to dame SLOW

Agree. I dont document anything if my fish spawn. Just good to see beut plecs like that can be spawned. Q? Is the common name for these guys called 'snow flake'? Wouldnt want to get it wrong

They where breeding none stop but got sick of stripping fry and feeding. Otherwise females hold on to long and waste away. The solution was add 12 Aul.OB's which stopped all breeding in the tank. The males put a halt to all after hour activities :lol: About 6-8 months ago i sold 25 B.Haps to a LFS so there must be a few around.

Do any of you use a water ager of some kind? I have been using a internal bubble filter with charcoal which runs for about a week. But i still noticed when doing water changers some of the fish start to scratch. Just looking at alternative ways instead of using a ager. The cost would add up. Just to confirm I have a 1000ltr barrel which does water changers for half my tanks. I dont do 1000ltrs for one tank mind you the over day i walked away during a water change for one tank and forgot about it. Came back 20 mins later and emptied about 500ltrs in one tank. Fish room flooded and garage. Boy where the fish pissed with me. Poor buggers had a 500% water change :lol: :lol: They all lived

Question for all those who do large volumes of water changes. 1000lts plus. How do you prepare your water, ie chlorine removal, heavy metals etc?

Nice tank layout Firenzenz! I must say theirs some awesome looking tanks around the country. Maybe we should have a annual contest on best tank. Something a sponsor should think about with a prize.

Yes they are nice fish and yes they are aggressive. They have been on the list numerous times but it looks like no one buys when available. At present I have about 40 females and 5 males happily living in a five footer. When i first started with them i had 6. 3m 3fm. These guys where housed in a tank next to my TV and on occasion the males would lock jaw and basically lift them selves out of the water hitting the glass lids. Didnt know which was better to watch :roll: To stop this I put my XXL Borleyi into the same tank and he would keep the peace. Just to funny to watch. Bred them to good numbers now and touch wood they are happy as.

Might have some available in the next couple of weeks. Female holding for about 26 days now. Will wait till day 35.
