Sorry about your fish. Your first mistake was to purchase cichlids from a pet shop in Henderson. They know nothing about cichlids only about selling crap and making money from them. If you wanting pure breed fish try asking Hollywood Fish Farm or members on the forum. As Andrew said (firenz) need to know what you purchased? And what you had?

Great looking fish. And you wounder why people think we get so hyped up about hybrids. If people would just take the time to do a little research maybe all our peacocks would look as good as Marks fish.

If your in CHCH gets some lime stone from your local beach. Thats where all mine came from and was sent up on a truck by a good mate. Lime Stone has a high Ph reading and look great when algae grows on it

They where here at one stage and breeding. But no longer. I ended up with male and two females but no luck with them. They reacon you need a large school to breed them

Could be? Richard has purchased alot of fish from me but he also still orders from Importers. If you implying that the Yellows with Black lines are from me they guess again dude. I live under the some rules as A.. If not up to standard CULL IT!!!!!!!! or in his case feed it to Mr Shovelnose Ive even purchased breeding stock from someone which I was advised was great stock. When they arrived in Akld and I had a good look at them, guess what I did?. CULL the dame lot of them :evil: And he still recons they where nice fish even though they had faded black bands.

The best thing to do is cull all your Electric Yellows and purchase young off me :lol: :lol:

Thats just poor breeding stock. Dame rubbish. Yellows should be a clean bright yellow body with black edging. My breeding group are all the above but I must say some of the juvs do start with a whitish lower body but that disappears as they grow. If you have a look on the net their are some yellows that are nearly white which are from the Lake.

Hi Dont clean the rocks as these will hold beneficial bacteria and gives your fish something to graze on when algae grow on them. I would only clean the front and side glass of the tank and gravel clean every couple months. When doing a gravel clean target the area under rocks as most of the waste settles under them. To many people make the mistake of over cleaning there tanks. Not realising they are killing off the good bacteria.

Pretty common. My fry get fed to my Alto's to get them into breeding condition. They are nice fish esp the males as they have various pink strips which is pretty cool.
